He probably couldn't take these guys when they were serious enough to hold titles....he probably gets screwed against Dokes like everyone else. Maybe Tua could upset tubbs, coetzee, weaver, or berbick with a cheap shot
I think Tua KO's Berbick for sure, and have a punchers chance against the rest but we know Tua went into a shell when he got hit and he could be out-boxed but power he had for 12 rd. I could see fights against Coetzee,Weaver, going either way but I think he could stop Tubbs as well...Dokes may outpoint him and Page on a good night could do it all but rarely was he in top form
Exactly. As i mentioned before. If you were useless in your own era, why should you be elevated in another era?
Tua's biggest error was not signing w/ DKP. He could have had a real easy path and lots of soft and easy WBA matchups. Plus, he's the guy getting the benefit of the doubt on scorcards. A whole lot easier than the Main Events route and having to take on Lewis. Go after Ruiz. McCall. Old Bruno and those guys DKP kept rolling in title fights.
Anyone who can jab and move gives Tua problems. A lot of these guys were drug addicts and inconsistent, but on a good night I think most of them give Tua serious problems and more than likely beat him.
Pretty much this. Tua also need to rally to beat Maskaev, Izon and Oquendo. I suppose it's possible that Tua catches a few of these guys cold and bombs them out early, or stages a late come from behind KO but every single one of these guys is more than capable of beating Tua.
Right and the Izon Maskaev and first Rahman fight Tua was in shape, so it was more telling how important his fitness was. Once Main Events broke up and he basically was shelved to preserve his mandatory IBF shot he became fat and out of shape. By the time he faced Lewis he was an overweight Cupi Doll. It was all downhill from there.
He wasn't really out of shape against Lewis. He was too bulked up, which is a little different. Out of shape would've been the second Rahman fight. He also had separated ribs against Lewis but I don't really buy that it altered the fight. Despite all of the s hit he's getting in this thread, he still managed to piece together a better resume than most of the guys listed.
He catches Tate. He destroys Weaver in a round. Dokes might decision him. He crushes Coetzee. Page out boxes him. He catches Tubbs. Witherspoon decisions him. He defeats Smith. Thomas decisions him. He stops Berbick. Tucker decisions him.
