And Bruno WAS only ever stopped by BIG punchers. I think Bruno was a level above Tua. Tua is extremely overrated. Tua never beat a single durable fighter his whole career
Bruno beat big punchers, at world level he just did not beat great fighters. But neither did Tua. People need to ask how would Tua get on with Tyson, Lewis and Witherspoon that Bruno fought? McCall and Coetzee hit as hard as anyone. Not all big punchers stopped Frank.
Tua is very overrated, if you look through his career, he never beat a single durable fighter and most of his 'greatest' kos came while being behind and getting schooled
But are you saying that would that be a bad omen for Bruno since he was knocked whilst schooling greater fighters than Tua beat? or do you surely think Brunos underrated ring generalship would see him through against Tua?
it could possibly happen. its like a recipe for disaster. A big boxer who gasses frequently and has some confidence issues vs a small hard hitting midget who always seems to find the answer in the later rounds despite being behind on the scorecards
I think a fighter who gets hit that many times by Oleg maskiev, who was often in poor shape would have to get luckier than he ever got in real life to get out of jail like that against Bruno in a fantasy match up.
If Bruno stays behind the jab and paces himself he got this one in the bag..........if he decides to slug it our one has to favor Tua. Once you stuck a consistant jab into Tua's face he just followed you around like a puppy waiting for you to let you guards down so he can get his hailmary in. I watched Tua from pretty much the beginning and I knew he would never be a dominating fighter based on the fact that he needed to come from behind against subpar fighters to win.......once you step up you eventually will not get bailed out exclusively by your left hook.....
This fight is Brunos to win/lose If Bruno lands a big right and earns Tuas respect early, will that be enough? At least with Lewis, he would put his foot down now and then to show whose still boss. But would Frank be able to keep that up for 12?
Just because Bruno never lost to a non champion don't mean he can't lose to one, he's too stationary and that ain't good against a historic puncher like Tua, he'd land the left hook quite easily, he'd duck Bruno's slow punches, go to the body for a bit, with the slow feet of Bruno, he'd get inside quite easily and finish him with a vicious combination mid rounds
Bruno just doesn't have the chin or the stamina to deal with Tua's pressure. Tua folds him up like a lawnchair in 6.
When it comes to power they both got it, but I got to lean towards bruno in this one, tua was a very good one trick pony but if he seemed confused if he couldn't walk through you and I dont see him walking through bruno like he did moorer or Ruiz, Bruno had a a really strong stiff jab, perfect weapon for keeping a swarmer at bay. Bruno would also be strong enough to manhandle tua in a clinch. Bruno was a skillful boxer and I think he would likely duplicate what Lennox did. I wouldnt rule out a tua win either if he manages to land enough hooks to the body before going up top tho
A motivated Tua catches up to the best Bruno mid rounds, stuns him and then finishes the job quickly.
Bruno probably builds a lead behind the jab. He could possibly win this, but my guess is he doesn't. Tua at his best takes Frank's power, keeps coming, puts Frank under increasing pressure and stops Bruno later when Frank starts to fade.
Bruno could win this behind his jab . Tua was very strong and hard punching but was one dimensional .Franks jolting jab would control the fight and I think Tua would just plod after him eating leather.Tua could KO Bruno of course but I think a slow paced jab feast would sute frank.
