David Tua has signed on for the "David vs Goliath" bout against the formidable world heavyweight championship contender Alexander Ustinov on 31 August, 2013 at Claudelands Arena Hamilton.
The giant 36 year old Russian, who stands at a towering 6ft’ 8in” (203cm), has won 28 of his 29 professional boxing bouts earning him a top 10 ranking in both the WBA and IBF heavyweight divisions.
With only one loss in boxing to IBF world No 1 Kubret Pulev, the four time K1 Grand Prix title winner represents Tua’s toughest assignment since his drawn contest against Hasim Rahman ten years ago.

I hope the Tua that fought Cameron shows up or this ones not ganna go his way id imagine. From what of seen of the giant Ustinov , hes slow and average but still a big task for the old Tua, I give the Tua man credit for taking a credible fight after 2 years off but man it makes you wonder why he pissed the last 10 years away for what ever reason. I looked at his boxrec yesterday and hes had 3 lots of 2 year layoffs in 10 or so years, best win in Cameron 09 and a lucky draw with the rock 03 and loss and draw with barrett shows he might be too late.

Interesting fight, Ustinov was decently ranked because his fight with Pulev was part of that 4 man eliminator to fight Wlad

I wonder if Tua wins where this puts him

Ustinov is massive but not all that special i wonder how this plays out

had no idea this guy was a K1 kickboxer according to wikipedia he had 53 Kickboxing wins thats amazing

Tua's career has been INCREDIBLY frustrating. He wasted so many good years. But he must believe in one last run. His fitness is key. A fit and focused Tua can still do some mighty damage

It's not only that, he was fucked over by his former trainer/manager Kevin Barry for millions who now trains NZ prospect Joseph Parker.

There is a lot of debate about that, Jaymon. Personally I think Tua would be WAY better off if he had stayed with Barry.

I think he was referring to the fact the Tua was fcuked financially by Barry.

The guy is flat out broke. An article a while go was describing how he lived in the gym he was training.

He also got divorced which I'm sure wasn't easy.

Feel sorry for the guy,he's a cool cat.

He lost all his money fighting Barry in court.

    Worth it? I think not.
