David Tua impressively beat a vast majority of those opponents, could John Ruiz have done similar? Doubt?
There are guys on that list every bit as credible as (or more than) Valuev, McCline, Johnson, and Oquendo. :nono Don't try to play those off as good wins just because they're recognizable names. The rest of Ruiz's dance partners that you mentioned are legit; nobody's ever questioned that he's been matched tough. What's his record against that other six though? 3-3-1 with a NC (so really 3-4-1 unofficially)? Yes, Tua's been horribly managed for years. Not a newsflash. That's behind him now as of very recently; the wheels are turning and we'll see what 2010 brings. If he destroys three Friday Ahunanya types in a row, and stays on schedule in doing it by summer/fall, he should be in title contention by this time next year or the end of this one.
all those guys on tuas list are the horrible of horrible... give me one big win from any of them besides rahman? doesnt matter ruiz record against his opponents, at least the guy has fought and not squandered his career. even has 3 fights with holyfield... tuas wheels are turning, but has already postponed the fight he was supposed to have in feb in the states. i like tua and think we need him, but he cannot fight 2 times a year against bs opponents after friday fight...he needs top 10 ...i would like to see nothing more than him knock out any of the belt holders...he has easily wasted his entire career and had the tools to ruleafter tyson, holyfield and lewis all left......
I would not be surprised if Ruiz pulled out a decision against Tua. Ruiz' style was very different when Tua stopped him on USA's Tuesday Night Fights years ago.
and David Tua does not mind fighting John Ruiz. Do you get an impression David Tua wants to fight John Ruiz for a title. Would be easier since they've fought before. If there's no title fight, heck, David Tua would prefer to fight John Ruiz still or John Ruiz has to want to fight him as well. Could a matchup between them be entertain, I have to go with David Tua in mid-to-late round.
Possibly the best way you could put it. Plus Ruiz does not need this fight he has a WBA title fight coming his way. Tua is the one whose done jack since he drew Rahman in like 02. Tua is no teven relevant KO'd Cameron big surprise so did Friday and he did it first. Hwt's never lose the punch it is the last to go but he certainly is not in the same shape or as fast or fluid as he was 14 years ago. Ruiz is now a seasoned veteran who has been in with almost everybody and only beaten thoroughly once. Easy to look like superman when you fight C level opponents.
