I’m surprised to see this matchup has never been done before on here.
Does Dokes have the feet to stay away from him? He didn’t have slow feet, but wouldn’t describe him as a mover.
    Who wins this matchup?

I think that Tua knocks out Dokes early.

If it’s a good version of Dokes he might win. Rahman was schooling Tua for most of their two fights and Mr. Christopher Byrd beat him.

Good point about Rahman, a bog average fighter who Tua had to resort to late-rounds cheating to overcome.

Yeah Rahman should have won at least one of those fights

Dokes decision. He had a fine chin pre coke and immense speed. His problem rounds would be after he tiring early and looking for his second wind.

Either Dokes by decision or Tua in a come-from-behind late rounds knockout. I somewhat lean towards the latter, as I think Dokes was too game for his own good, and he could be hit. When Tua hits you late, it usually means good night. Still, I think Dokes had enough hand speed and fast reflexes that he could bedazzle and hit Tua early and often and get a lead. But somewhere Tua is going to blast him really good and hard and he's going to go out.

Yet he beats James Corbett inside a round? A guy who could box 45 with gardening gloves on.

I’m just making light on the fact lots of guys here see Tua bowling over Corbett with ease yet he struggled with fighters with Rahman’s skill level.

Got it. I don’t think much of Tua, personally. Results, not potential, count.

Potential is mostly unknowable - results are there.

& that’s why fighters like Trinidad & the elder Klitschko so enrage & frustrate me. They got the results without any serious potential :nonono
