I was referring to Peak Tua, specifically the one who fought Ike, because of the great workrate he showed.
Ali still beats Tua, Ali could always take a punch even at the end he still was pretty much KO proof. He will Jab Tua to death and be on his bike and win many very ugly rounds where Tua just can’t find him. Rahman, Maskaev, Byrd all either outboxed or were outboxing Tua before getting caught, even Fres Oquendo was. Look I like David a lot, he’s a tank with a HUGE punch and decent stamina and late stopping power, but you just can’t KO Ali. The Decision will likely be controversial, but it’s tough to beat Ali on the cards unless you really beat him down.
To be fair, I see now that the OP did put "Prime Tua" up above the poll. It just threw me that it didn't say it anywhere in the actual thread. Prime Tua vs. exiting Ali, now that is a brainteaser. Obviously, prime Ali whips prime Tua...and accordingly, shot Ali beats equally shot Tua. Yeah, the only way Tua stands a chance in this match-up is his late 90's form against Ali's late 70's.
Ali was shot against shavers, and still knocked the **** out of earnie in the final round, despite how tough the fight was. tua would get done
First of all the Ali of the second Spinks fight was worst than the Ali of the first ... he was slightly better conditioned but his skilled continued their downward spiral .. either version loses to a prime Tua .. he was basically shot at this point ...
*If u think Frazier opened upa can of whup ass on Ali... what would Tua do... Tua's huge... Tua's 260 pounds of bad news in his prime... i'd puit him against any Ali.
Prime Tua "260lbs". You'd chose him against any Ali. The Peak Tua was 226lbs, he was a sorry sight when obese. Ali of 1964-1977 easily beats any Tua.
Joey 'Shotgun' Shelton on beating Muhammad Ali. A long-time sparring partner from 1963 thru 1967. Simply rough him up, and veer from the obvious. Hit him low, hard and often. When he pulls your head down, shoot a hard punch right into his balls. He hates hip shots, so always shoot for his hip-pointers, as those punches will numb him, and in a matter of time he will become less mobile. Forget his body, a complete waste of time. And his head, too tough to score successfully on. Go for all of his bone-points, elbows and shoulders. In Round 1, go right out and nail him right in the crotch, and hard with 2 or 3 ball-drilling shots. Take the 1-point penalty from the referee. Mentally, you've just won the round. When he pulls your head down, drill him again with a double or triple-shot. Then complain to the referee, that when you're attempting a body punch, he pushed you down forcing the punch to take direct aim into his balls. I did this once with Ali, just to see how I would hold up. He quit on me, after 4-Rounds........I Won by TKO.
Tua, too young fast and explosive, but prime Ali clowns him easily by exposing the slow foot speed of Tua by using height, reach and winning in a similar way to Joshua Ruiz, the slow footed guys are usually good at trading like Tua and Ruiz, so ali just boxes from the outside
This version of Ali went 1-1 with Leon Spinks,,,, It's not fair to match this Ali with almost anyone else. Tua either beats him up terribly and Ali stays on his stool in the latter rounds,or he knocks him out.. a Joe Louis Marciano type KO.
