I don't know man, Rocky seemed to pack a good punch, maybe he didn't hit as hard as Tua but his one punch lights out KO vs Walcott late in the fight looks damn fierce. Walcott wasn't a big man but he was by no means a light heavyweight! Satterfield absolutely had enough power to hurt heavyweights. He knocked out guys like Cleveland Williams who was a legit heavyweight. He also survived many of these "heavyweights" punches which is why he got the knock outs.. Yet he was knocked out early by many a light heavyweight like Moore or Johnson let's say.. So explain that how could he survive late into fights against legitimate heavy weights and sometimes win by ko but get blown out and knocked out by what you consider inferior punching light heavyweights? Listen I'm not discounting what you're saying obviously their are weight classes for a reason, but each fighter is a bit of a different animal. And I'm not even arguing Marcianos side here as I'm not as high on him as many others are, I'm just stating its impossible to definitely say that Marciano couldn't hurt a guy like Tua possibly or take his punches..
Satterfield was undeniably a big puncher,he was also a, "party animal",how much that contributed to his defeats is conjecture. ,but it is generally conceded he did not have the best of chins.
tua. Stoppage cuts 8th rd or rocky stays put at the bell for the 9th. Rocky never fought any good prime, young punchers.
""( tua would have been undefeated too in the era of rocky and more dominant, however marciano would have lost to lewis, ike, byrd, and probably rahman and more people. Marciano is a lhw today. Deal with it."" :deal THIS...ALL DAY
Relative to his style, he took minimal damage. You're also referring to some of his toughest fights. Every fighter has their wars. Have you see him against Savold? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiMQVgxsKvk He's not easy to hit. Plus, if you miss even a jab, he makes you pay dearly.
Tua could be out boxed with a strong jab and movement because he never cut off the ring but just followed you around. However all guys with the exception of Lewis and to a extent Byrd were eventually caught late and stopped ( Oleg/Izon/Oquendo etc). The best version of Tua is the one who showed up against Ike. Insert the best version of Marciano into that fight with Tua. Ike was approx 230/ 6.1 to 6.2 in superb shape a bit green but great chin determination (aka already going crazy) good punch ****nal , above average power and stamina for a full 12. Despite his corner begging him to box and make it easy he stood toe to toe with Tua, taking monster shots, even wobbled several times but kept on going in a record breaking punch stat fight which i actually thought Tua won but I dont want to split hairs and it was a extremely close fight and nobody was robbed. Marciano did not box, he brawled..... the more toe to toe the better....replace crazy Ike with Marciano.....take the blinders off and you will realize that he is going to take a nap against Tua in that scenerio. There is no way no how a 185 pound fighter is surviving a toe to toe battle in a high punch output action fight.....Earth to Marciano worshippers. His stamina would not even come into play because Tua /Ike threw a record amount of punches with bad intentions. The End.
