Tua by murder against that shell of a shell ancient louis.

One more time, watch the Tua/Ike fight and insert Marciano instead of the crazy ****** and explain to me, in detail not some BS" great chin he always won," no explain to me a fightplan how he would survive a brawl like that because he could not box for shid and had a almost non existing jab......a jab is the ultimate Tua tamer.......even Marciano would be embarrassed how his crazy fans put him in like boxing god status.

I'd pick Tua in a heartbeat, tbh.

This is where our differences of opinion stem. Moore was not a master boxer at heavyweight. He had faded enough to the point where he was vulnerable when Rocky got to him. He was old at at his best at heavyweight.

Um, I think Byrd more than qualifies if you compare Byrd to that version of Moore.
Byrd could possibly beat that version of Moore because he was badly faded.

Well, it's true, there's a reason Roy Jones Jr only tried to fight Ruiz and snatch a title, he didn't want to **** with someone who could spark him because of the potential for massive size disadvantages. Cruiserweights exist for a reason. There are exceptions yes but Rocky never ever faced super heavyweights like Tua and it's silly to act like Moore would outbox Tua also with absolutely no Substantial Reasoning To It.

Anyways - this all stems to the original OP question. In a head to head shootout, why on earth would Rocky Marciano be able to outwork David Tua? Rocky has massive disadvantages here. His path to victory is knocking Tua out and outslugging him. It's not happening, guys. Tua would back him up, Hit him with huge shots, and frankly just outgun him. I don't see a way Rocky can win. He never proved that he could take one of Tua's best left hooks, and ultimately Rocky would get clocked at some point.

At heavyweight? seriously? Who did Moore @ heavyweight beat that possibly compares to Tua or Klitschko? The answer is nobody. For that matter who did Rocky beat at heavyweight that compares to Tua or Klitschko? Rocky's wins over old ATGs in Moore, Charles and Louis are more like Byrd's win over Holyfield. I'm surprised you are this hard on Bird.

Jimmy Young did not fight in survival mode vs Ron Lyle and George Foreman and Earnie Shavers, the 3 biggest punchers of his era. He also went out on his shield vs Gerry ****ey and certainly didn't go in survival mode there.

I think Young would definitely beat Tua if he was at his best - he certainly had the ability to do so. it would be a question of if Jimmy Young felt like winning. He had the right style, right speed, counter punching, slickness and defensive know-how to get it done.

There's a big difference between Young beating Tua and Marciano doing it - not only because of the style but because Young has more tools and won't be forced into a shootout like Marciano ultimately would.

I wouldn't pick Tua over anybody ranked in the top five in a heartbeat, and neither should you.

Incidentally, there is a “nearly was” like Tua in most eras.

Nobody asks how Luther McCarthy or Henry Flakes would have fared against Rocky Marciano!

What great fighter did Tua ever beat? Many on here are easily impressed. Tua was so far from a great fighter it's laughable. Excellent left hook power, but no defense whatsoever.....a human punching bag.

Young fought Foreman in survival mode. If he hadn't, he would have been knocked out.

Yeah, the round that he got hurt In Young fought to survive, the other rounds he was boxing him off the backfoot and countering.

Very true. Young fought a typical Young fight aside from the seventh round which he himself stated he did not think he would survive.

Not to get into semantics, but since Young clearly was fighting to win, I wouldn't really call it "survival mode," personally.

Rocky by late KO. Can't believe the poll is so close. Marciano's a genuine ATG HW while Tua was a B level contender. His best win was fellow B level contender Rahman who he was getting outclassed against before he cheated to win.

    Tiny little fella.
