Let's start with the fact that prime Wlad is not some 38 year old guy who has taken the previous 4 years off. Prime Wlad is not some hay humper from Kansas taking up boxing part time but a martial artist who has been at it since he was a child, who won Olympic gold as a superheavy. He had a fine set of skills honed finer by a master trainer. More specifically, Waldo had deft feet and an ATG great meatgrinder of a jab and a straight as an arrow right hand, the kind that spelled doom for Dempsey's low left hand.
They should have an international proficiency exam called " The combatesdeboxeo test. " If one passes they're automatically labeled mentally challenged.
I know all of that and on some level I agree. But watch the fight between Willard and Dempsey (not insulting your intelligence I just don't know how else to frame the question). Up until the first knockdown Willard doesn't really put a foot wrong and I'm not sure what Wlad would specifically do differently to what Willard did that fight.
