You leave out a major point...and you always do...this is boxing and McCline could not fight a lick.

Jameel McCline could actually fight a bit. For various reasons depending on the era, he presents a variety of problems for elite heavies of any era.

Big guys like Jameel McCline and Jack O'Halloran have always been a factor in boxing. Honest pros. Big guys sells tickets and are an easy sell for youngsters getting intrested in boxing. A kind of crossover from wrestling. Everyone likes a character.

Ali beat duke sabedong who was exactly the same kind of fighter as jameel mcCline. Charlie Powell was another. Big muscle men who could test prospects and get good wins from time to time.

Greetings again Tommo, I can't speak for those that say the older era guys, as they were, would be able to compete against 2000+ contenders. I agree that, in most cases, the large lot of them couldn't. But I think you're making my point with your comments. Lewis, Tyson, the Klits, etc. would have been subject to the same nutrition & training limitations that the classic guys had to deal with. Not to mention, given the economics of the older times, many old-time greats fought 6-8 times a year. Let your modern 'bad-asses' fight every 2-3 months and I guarantee their W-L records would take a beating. Once again, given your nutrition & training limitations, a 2000 Marciano or Dempsey against a 1952 Tyson or a 1923 Klit bro takes on a whole different perspective. Your Ali bias continues to show as well. Granted, it was his decision to shut down his career but we never saw Ali from the spring of 67 until the fall of 70. I've gone on record as saying his 2nd 'reign' was totally tainted, but that in no way diminishes his legacy. He was always a 200-220 pounder, I don't understand your cruiser distinction? I guess we will just have to agree to disagree. You simply can't objectively compare fighters from different eras.
One final biased opinion from me. How anyone cannot regard Sugar Ray Robinson as THE greatest pugilist of all-time is beyond my comprehension.
Given your nutrition & training mantra, how about a prime 2000 Ray? :yikes

This is boxing. McCline can't fight...a zero. Ali was the greatest hwt who ever lived and experts far more knowledgable that you...maybe as knowledgable than I....concur with that statement. Most on these boards sound like mms fans who are impressed by huge biceps and know nothing of true fighting ability.

I've lost nothing. Name one noted boxing historian who agrees with your statements. I can name a dozen that would laugh out loud at your ridiculous statements.
