Name me a Noted European historian who agrees with Morrison beating prime Ali. Name me one noted boxing trainer who agrees. You can't because it's a dumb thought based on pure ignorance.
You forget I've been intimately involved with the sport since 1973. I do the sport you watch from the nose bleed seat. I know trainers...the real experts who do not agree...none of them do...with your idiotic thoughts.
Well then boxing trainers should be well aware of this now shouldn't they be? So go ahead and name one that says Morrison would ko Ali....name one.
What a load of ****. Marciano was in shape at 185lbs, he's small even for Cruiserweight standards and it's unlikely his power would carry well up against heavier opponents especially Superheavyweights or someone with an iron chin like Tua. Most cruiserweights even today struggle with their power being effective at Heavyweight, only those that sit on the top end of it who "drain down" tend to still carry their power like Haye.
Effing hell. For once elroy has got something right. Without a doubt David Tua would knock Rocky Marciano spark out, probably within 5 rounds.
Tua had potential, i liked what he had, I thought he was plenty big enough at 201lb. He could fight and he could punch. nice shoulder roll and a deadly left hook. Tua was a good contender but not a world beater. Sometimes you get fighters that posess some of the components that make a great fighter but not all of them. This is exactly what Tua was. Its pretty clear by the end of a career to distinguish if a fighter realy had it or not. To say he could have made it another era with extra advantages of weight is a step too far, it does not wash. Whatever was missing in the actual time the fighter existed in would have been exploited by a great fighter at any other time because all great fighters are the exception to the rule. There is always an exception. Great champions are exceptional so its no good championing the merets of a merely good contender against an exceptional champion. Rocky Marciano had two handed power and he never had a problem landing punches against faster, slippery fighters so he wont be missing Tua who Felix Savon took out with one punch. As for Rocky being underpowered in this match we have all seen underpowered, spoilong maulers frustrate fighters with a better better size advantage. Remember spoilers like journeymen big foot martin and frankie swindle? Nobody could really take out good versions of those two and they were just trial horses. At the very least Marciano could maul much, much better than that only he was also a relentless ATG hitter. Tua was not a thinker. If he was made to think he would just stop and watch. mostly Tua was a rhythm fighter. Rolling and punching in sequence along a pattern where as Rocky could pick his spots, draw a man in and counter as well as brawling with pressure. Marciano just had a better engine, better focus. An exceptional fighter who in many ways defied logic, unless you study him close enough to arive at the same conclusion as I have have. He beats Tua.
The underlined statement is ridiculous. Uzcudun stopped the relic of Wills who was 2 months shy of his 38th birthday. Paulino not only never stopped a rated heavyweight he never even floored one !atsch
Uzcudun was an excellent puncher. The agent who brought him to the USA thought he found a new Dempsey. Nat Fleischer rated him very highly after viewing Paulino in Europe in the 1920s. Paulino was proberbly already past his best by the time he came to America. He beat Max Baer and drew with a prime Schmeling. He knocked out 34 of 50 victims. That's a puncher.
Paulino not only never kod a decent man he never floored one, he was known for his durability nothing else. Look at the men he failed to drop. Puffed up middle weight Walker, whom Schmeling demolished. Von Porat , who was kod in the first round by Stribling , 5 months after going the distance with Uzcudun. Carnera ,who was on the floor more times than floor polish, he went 15rds with Paulino and never tasted canvas. McKorkindale who average punching Gains dropped Erminio Spalla, who was kod in 3 of his next 4 fights went the distance and stayed erect against Paulino. Ko Christner, who was kod 15 times went the route with Paulino. You are in denial mate.
Paulino had a lovely left hook. Pete Radmacher was knocked out by Brian London but Pete outpointed George Chuvalo yet that still did not top chuvalo knocking out Jerry quarry. Now does that mean since chuvalo could not hurt radmacher but could KO Quarry that George could not punch? After all Brian London wiped the floor with a guy George did not, could not hurt. A good punch is a good punch. Some fighters can land their best punch more often. It does not mean they can't punch. I don't care how old wills was, that was a good punch Paulino was using that night and Wills was still a serious contender. I will try and locate an old article about uzcuduns prowess earlier in his career and get back to you.
Do us both a favour look up the men that Paulino stopped, and the amount of times they were stopped ,and by whom. For the greater part they could not even be classed as "ham and eggers", they make Lamar Clark's opposition look formidable. If you persist with this I'll list them. Here is a sample. Paul Journee ,the man who discovered Carnera. 7-16-1 kod 20 times in 36 fights. Alex Touroff 0-0-0. Herman Sjourwerm 4-5-0 Laurent Mamieu 0-3-0 Marcel Niles14-7-0 in 50 fights stopped 22 times, 9 times before he met Uzcudun, and he was one of the better ones! Arthur Townley stopped 6times before kod in 2rds by Carpentier in his previous fight. Jose Teixidor 8-11-2 stopped 9 times in 31 fights. Louis Piochelle had 5 fights kod in 2 of them. Jack Humbeeck kod 13 times. Phil Scott,Phainting Phil stopped 13 times. Constan Baricle kod 14 times in 33 fights. Soldier Jones stopped 14 times before twice by light punching midddle weight Harry Greb! Harry Drake won 7 on 29 fights kod 6 times. Martin O Grady 4-14-2. Let me know if you want the names of more sacrificial victims . Chuvalo was never a big puncher, his biggest scalp was Quarry, who mistimed the count. Paulino not only didn't land his best punch often, when he did it had no effect against anyone of quality . He was a durable mauler nothing more. Terrific puncher my ****! By the way Uzcudun knocked Wills down with a right hook, when he gets up Paulino lands a right, to finish him off then another right , but misses with both his left hooks. Watch it.
Size does not mean victory , but to suggest that Tua would be around Marciano's size if he cut weight is ridiculous. Apart from reach Tua is considerably bigger than Lennox Lewis! Tua has a 49"" chest 30" thighs 19.5" biceps 15" forearms Marciano had a 39"chest 22" thighs 14" biceps 12" forearms This content is protected
I must admit, Rocky is the one fighter whose success baffles me. A 67 inch reach at HW? But he had that something. The special ones do. I don't think he is in Louis or Alis class, but this guy went 49-0. No way does Tua consistently beat him.Maybe once in a while. And who back there said he had a bad chin. OMG that's crazy. Honestly, the farce that is some peoples opinions on here scares me.
\ And LHW Antonio Tarver is also considerably bigger than Lewis, going by tale of the tape. 48" chest 29.5" thighs 16.5" biceps Lewis: 46" chest 26" thighs 17" biceps You just can't put any stock into this.
