I dont see galento making it past the 6th round unless he manages to turn it into an ugly, fouling, brawl fest or he opens up a cut on Tua with a leaping sledgehammer hook and gets a doctor stoppage. Tua wins 8/10 via stoppage or ugly lopsided decision.
I'm honestly shocked anyone could watch Tony Galento and convince themselves that he actually fought well enough to challenge a beast like Tua. I doubt Galento could even beat someone like Derrick Rossy these days, or at the very least it'd be a competitive fight. Muralimov lost to him, and he's about the closest we've come to a Galento clone in recent years. Even Muralimov was able to throw punches correctly. Galento's manner of throwing a punch consisted of having his arms out at the sides and bringing one in to his centreline in an arcing motion then repeating with the other arm, while keeping his chin stuck in the air. It's the most amateurish stuff you could ever hope to see in a prize fighting ring.
When I do H2H's I ask myself certain questions. In this case I ask. Q . Can Galento outbox Tua? A.No Q.Can he outpunch him? A .No Q.Can he stop him? A.No Q.Can he outwork him? A.No Last question Q.Then how the f*ck can he win?
I'm not shocked--these guys are delusional ideologues hellbent on glorifying old time heavyweights. One of them thinks that Tua v Jim Corbett would be a terrible mismatch (in Corbett's favor). Another wrote that he doubts that Tua was any more dangerous than little guys like Tommy Gomez. Several of them think that Primo Carnera was a better all-around fighter than Riddick Bowe. You can't reason with them. Video footage, fighters' W-L records, the basic principles of sports science, etc. hold no weight, unless they support their preferred conclusions.
Speaking of rebuttals, you are still ducking my question. How come you cant name these sub 175 pound fighters that withstood Baer's power? Is it because you were just talking ****? Why are you scared, this is only a messageboard.
I don't have to name any sub 175lbers, only fighters who could have conceivably fought at LHW today. Braddock is one, Tommy Loughran is another. Schmeling lasted ten rounds before succumbing. Baer either struggled to stop them, or didn't stop them at all.
There is no way that Schmeling or Braddock could have made the ligth heavyweigth limit when they fought Baer.
He knocked down Joe Louis fool. Some of the best guys I've been in the ring with telegraphed on purpose to put you off position. I don't care what anyone says about technique. If you have the wherewithal and spirit to close the distance and land a monster shot against class fighters, you can go far.
