Tua in his prime was a wrecking ball who took out several champs Only the really elusive guys could avoid his hooks
His hand speed is far slower than Usyk`s and the guys he`s knocking out in these vids are just stood in front of him doing nothing, no head movement, Tua looks awful on this vid.
A classic case of can he effectively avoid Tuas hook for 12 rounds.. if Byrd can I don't see why Usyk can't.. fighters like Oquendo controlled him too for the majority but got caught in the 9th.. Tua was a beast but he was out boxed throughout his career.. Maskev for example comprehensively out boxed him.. but a bit like Wilder he just had that freakish power to bail him out
Come on.. Byrd wasn't a pound shop anyone to be fair.. The guy was one of the best defensive fighters of his era.. an Olympic silver medallist & a two time HW champion.. plus he was a small HW.. he made Vitali hyper extend his shoulder so much he couldn't continue.. he clowned Tua.. schooled ageing Holyfield who'd just whooped Rahman.. beat Oquendo who gave almost everyone an awkward night .. Toney included! That was labelled a robbery by many.. Byrd was legit. His two fights with Golota & McCline were fantastic fights too.. highly recommended.
Hasim Rahman Oleg Maskaev Michael Moorer Johnny Ruiz Many, many world champions do not have such a fine record. I consider Tua to be one of the sport's true uncrowned champs. Everyone knows thatI am an Usyk fanatic, and I would still pick him, but what a fight!
