Overrated. Sorry efforts against Byrd and Lewis. Gets way too much mielage for his fight with an unproven Ibeabuchi.
man you dont know **** tua couldnt even sting rahman? ask rahman that and he'll spark you there and then cos he'll think your taking the **** obviously in the first fight tua stopped rahman. in the second fight, every time tua landed rahman would wobble but some how always managed to slither out of trouble literally. tua is way to slow after the ike fight cos of his weight issues. he just plods forward. during and before the ike fight, he had everything to be HW champ of the world. holyfield thought so, mike tyson thought so, lou duva thought so, and roy jones jr thought so. would you argue with these guys?....no. maybe if there was a keyboard and monitor.
I wouldnt get sparked by Rahman, he and I acknowledge the fact that he's a much better boxer than the ridiculously overrated David Tua. In their first outing, Tua had to CHEAT in order to get the W, he hit Rahman clearly after the bell, a fight he should've been disqualified in. In their rematch, David Tua came in overweight, Hasim came in overweight aswell and David Tuas promotor cried like a little ***** right there and then on the weigh in for Hasim being overweight, then Hasim pointed at Tua and said "What about him, he's a midget!" During the ike fight, he did not have everything to become the HW champ of the world, the champion was Lennox Lewis, who would've won 1000000/1000000 fights against your little midget. It's not a surprise that fighters glorify other fighters, they've done so for ages. I would definitely state my opinion for these guys, and claim that in my own opinion, David Tua is the most overrated non- titlist of all time. David Tua is a joke without the left hook, he's a slow, plodding stalkers that was inevitably getting schooled. And he did get schooled, by Rahman, by Byrd, by Lennox Lewis and by anyone with remote technical skills and a beard to take a tap. Fact is, Lennox Lewis said in the build up to their fight that he's not at all impresed by David Tua, and that he thinks he's nothing special, he's just a man with one weapon.. anyone with technical adaptability could've, would've schooled David Tua. Now on to your statements regarding his power. You said that he hits harder than George Foreman, you also said he's got a better chin than Mike Tyson. You ALSO said that Mike would not have been able to come forward against David Tua. You're laughable, and if you can't come into my thread without abusive or offensive comments against me, then you should shut your trap. :hi:
Short, slow guy with a hard chin and one good punch. Only in the HW division could a guy like Tua even come close to greatness, but that's boxing after all.
Tua was lethal when he weighed around 225lbs. His knockout of Ruiz was scary ****. I have never seen a fighter get blown away like a tornado before or since. This content is protected
he is basically the rich mans version of bert cooper, better chin, better power. Unfortunatley just like bert he couldnt box his way out of a wet paper bag.
Hey, I thought that was Tyson in that small clip so I had to check it out on youtube. Tua was good, sometimes is fun watching those hardhitting killermachines. Did he win any worldtitle? Has he retired now or? All the best The predator
That Tua was, for all intents and purposes, defeated by Hasim Rahman circa 1998. That he won in as dubious a fashion as it's possible to win a boxing match doesn't change that. Someone like Lewis would've always beaten absolutely any version of Tua...and indeed also comfortably dismantled the Ibeaubuchi with whom he had his defining fight.
gotta say all ill remember him for is being dominated by lennox & his ko of ruiz. he did have some entertaining fights & good highlight reel ko's though
Lennox was only one of the champions around at that time, the title was still split. One of the other champions at that time was a guy that Tua would flatten in about 20 seconds when they did meet. Tua has also beaten at least three fighters in his career who went to win titles afterward, plus he beat Oquendo who many people felt decisively beat Byrd when they fought and should've got the win and the title. The idea that Tua is good enough to have beaten a number of former/future champions in his career but isn't good enough to have ever been a champion himself is nonsensical at best. And what's so bad about not being able to beat Lennox Lewis anyway?
Opinion's split on him, and that's been the case for a while as far as I know. Regardless, you can't discredit him demolishing two world champions in a combined... what, round?
I like Tua but he is a little bit overatted. He has had chances to deliver and has not.He is good to watch though.
