Moorer was champ and the left hook was enough. Too bad he fought Lennox instead of Moorer for the title. That is why I say we have to see if a guy like Roy Jones or Toney can beat a caliber of Lewi, which I doubt. Even Foreman only beat Moorer who had a weak chin. All the other guys like Ruiz and Moorer who Jones and Toney and Foreman beat were knocked out in fast order by Tua.
If Sam Peter picked up a title Tua certainly could have done had he come along today and got the right fight. He was more skilled than Peter, some of the things he did defensively were cute. Much better chin, and his power is actually proven and not mythical like Peter's. He would be a danger to Wlad, even if I pick the big Ukranian. Tua was the sort of guy that didn't mind biting on the gum shield and walking through a jab to land his left hook unlike many of his opponents today. He would be dangerous for a full 12, he only needs to land one. I miss Tua.
Tua is shot and no threat to any top fighter anymore. He should call himself lucky that he got the nod against Hawkins and Salif. Yep! Every dog has its day! A lucky punch put Ruiz down, and created the myth of Tua,the most dangerous banger in the game. Bah! His firepower is totally overrrated. He can punch.Thats for sure! Nevertheless,he cant hold a candle to truly big punchers like the Klitschko brothers or Virchis IMO.
Virchis? Virchis has not knocked out a credible world level opponent and looked like **** against Michael Sprott for christ sake. Ruiz is a better win than the majority of Virchis's combined, and a better display of punch power than anything from the Ukranian slow man. Anybody can question Ruiz's skill and tactics. But his chin is proven against top operators.
Virchis looked poor against Sprott.Thats true.HOwever,he always looks bad against fast movers.Nevertheless, the firepower is there. He for example knocked Hawkins out who had gone the full route with Tua who had hardly managed to win that fight. A lucky punch thrown by a good puncher can put any human being down whether he is the present nr.1 Klitschko or not! Tua's firepower is overrated! I for one would bet my house on Virchis against that limited dwarf who has fought extremely poor opposition for the greatest part of his pro career. Even Salif almost managed to beat him.The average African would have probably won his encounter with Tua if that fight had taken place outside the states. Bah! Tua is shot. And yes,he can punch, but he is no outstanding puncher like the Klitschko brothers. Ruiz? Every dog has its day! A lucky day!
Tua must have had 2 lucky days then, since he also beat Rahman by KO. And sneaked a draw one way or the other. Maybe thats a third lucky day. As far as I can see Virchis has had zero lucky days because he has not beaten a single opponent that comes close to matching them, and everytime he's faced an opponent with above average speed he has looked like a clown. Culminating in him nearly getting KO'd by Gomez. Tua never even got KO'd by the great Lewis. Shameful comparison.
Virchis didnt get knocked out by Gomez. As for Lewis he didnt take any risks in his fight against Tua.He played it safe and won a wide point decision. Rahman? Another overrated American!
What about Maskaev, that other American? Was that a fourth lucky day? Tua has fought Lewis, Rahman twice, Ike, Ruiz, Maskaev and Byrd. And you want to sit here and talk about his competition?! In comparison to ****ing Virchis?! :-( Virchis is **** and always has been. He will lose every time he faces a top opponent. His skills are limited, he's slow, and he does not even have the great power you think he does. And even if he does, he can't ulilize it because he moves like an oil rig. He could only dream of wins over Rahman, Maskaev and Ruiz. His best win was probably Taras Bidenko. That should tell you something. Get your head straight, you don't always have to be horribly biased in favour of Europeans even in the face of the most daming evidence.
Thats the truth. Tua would steam roller the guy and thats real. David has a granite beard and the one thing he can do is bang in the pocket. Arreola isnt hard to find and easy to tame. Money in the bank as far as im concerned.

:yepyup...TUA just got used to knocking everyone out. He got lazy and thought he could just rely on haymakers or his left hook. He should of stay focused, trained hard and been in shape like he was versus IKE IBEABUCHI. He was like 215 and had the volume of a Margarito with a solid chin and bone crushing power. He even wobbled IKE in that fight.
226 against Ike. Thing is, even that version of Tua could get outboxed for long periods of time. As well as Ike you had Izon, Maskaev, Rahman I...Jeff Wooden, although he was 234 for that one. Jabs and movement are his kryptonite regardless of weight. The tricky thing is that he can carry his power through all 12, so you need to have total focus and good stamina to make sure you don't give him that chance. Also, don't get an idiot ref that lets him hit you after the bell and not disqualify him or even give you the ruled five minutes to recover. That helps too. But that was the old Tua. I haven't seen him for several years. It's inactivity that's been the real killer for Tua, even above his weight and management issues. No doubt in my mind at all - however the hell he does it, even if he gets down on his knees and begs, he should sign with Don King.
Tua is not shot, he's unmotivated. He needed to stay with Lou Duva. After that, he got fat and happy. He's in NZ, presumably fighting Shane Cameron for one lash hurrah and a big paycheck of $500,000 NZ dollars. Tua coulda, woulda, shoulda. He'll break your heart. He broke mine.
