Already expectations for this fight have skyrocketed out of the stratosphere. But, history indicates that this will likely be a boring fight that does not live up to what will be an unparalleled level of hype and so much hope.

    1. Hype: The Hayemaker hype machine is already operating at full throttle..."David is going to tear his head off...brutally knock him out....and this and that" and it will become incessant with David and Booth making colourful representations with impunity that range from being moderately peculiar to border-line insane. WK will progressively give "thoughtful" interviews that increasingly question David's mental stability, capabilities and motivations. By fight time, the hype will be at an unequaled frenzy.

    2. Hope: Everyone (including me) hopes that it will one of the most exciting HW fights in history with his or her fighter dispensing one-sided carnage galore. David's supporters hope for a brutal destruction of the Drago-like, glass-hearted/glass-jawed, robotic "stiff". WK's supporters hope for a prolonged, pitiless beating of the loud-mouthed charlatan that will end in a violent knockout at the time of WK's choosing.

    3. Reality: This fight stands but a minuscule chance of living up to the hope and hype. It will most probably be an anticlimactic bore which is fought super-cautiously on both sides. David will run for the entire fight, take potshots and hope for a lucky connection. WK will continuously sit behind his jab and hope that David runs into it enough to go down, quit or lose a clear-cut decision. The combined average punch output per round will be in the range of 30-36. While there will likely be a stoppage, it will be one of attrition as opposed to one of explosion. History points to little else than this scenario.

None of this means that the fight should not be made. It should...as a natural progression in the scheme of the fight business. But, style-wise and quality-wise, it stands much more of a chance of being Haye vs. Valuev as opposed to Ali vs. Frazier.

Look at Haye's resume though........Harrison, Valuev, Barrett. Wladimir knows he bang in trouble, surely?

I hope it will go something like hamed vs kelly with a lot of knock downs and a great fight, in reality it probably will go like valuev vs haye only I dont think it goes the distance.

This is what I expect (or fear) what will happen.
That scenario is worse for Haye as it is for Wlad though, because I expect the longer it takes the worse Haye's chances get. Although Wlad gets more stick for a boring fight as Haye gets.

If Haye is smart and brave, he has to go after Wlad right away. History says he doesn't.

Does anybody here think haye can win a decision against either klitschko? his best chance is a ko, he has great speed and power, nobody should be surprised if he is able to ko wlad, but does david haye really have inside game which wlad doesnt have? in the harrison fight when he had him hurt and was inside he needed to jump back a few times to jump in again, wlad could catch him with a jab or right hook when he moves back like that.

I agree. The fight will probably suffer from a lack of offensive workrate for a couple of rounds, and once either man starts connecting it will result in a rather anticlimactic stoppage. I fear once its over we'll wonder "Oh that was it? Where's the big drama and spectacle inside the ring"?

Crossing my fingers we're wrong on this.

:D, I think he should try to knock him out fast, problem is he doesnt have great stamina himself to keep that up, so it will most likely be a slow approach where every 1/2 rounds he tries to jump in and land those bombs.

Good post, and I agree completely. This is one of those fights you hope for excitement, but your better senses and knowledge of these two fighters suggests that it will be boring and methodical. I'd love to be proven wrong.......Also, it's hard to get excited about it until the first bell rings, after all the failed attempts at making this fight.

I don't think the fight will be boring because I don't think it'll get a chance to be. I can't envision it going more than 5 rounds, simply because both guys can knock each other out with one shot. I think it'll be cautious but over very quickly, much like Haye/Harrison or Wlad/Austin. That result won't match the hype, no, but hopefully the knockout will be brutal.

The lack of chin on both fighters pretty much guarantees this won't be an exciting fight. Haye has shown good powers of recovery when knocked down before, but he will never have been hit as hard as Wlad can, and Wlad has shown very poor powers of recovery and we know that Haye has HW level power. Haye's track record shows he's more likely to recover from a knockdown, but I doubt that would get him through a Wlad bomb. No way this turns into a slugfest though, both will be very wary of each other.

A wolf in sheeps clothing biased thread from a self confessed Haye hater trying to skew opinion.

Nice try but no dice, the fight remains an exciting prospect and may the better fighter win.

    Haye's chin won't withstand Wlad's assault...
