I feel like I know how Moore -Rhodes will play out, but I'm looking for some good UK opinions on how Davies will fare against Napa. Davies appears to have some nice momentum (and power) while is it possible that Napa at the age of 31 has seen his best days.... Cheers
i think davies is too big and strong for napa. same with the Bouziane fight. should go the distance though.
is it me or are the friday night fights cards picking up a lot lately, i sure hope it stays that way as we have had some real **** in the past
St Helens banger Gary Davies makes the first defence of his British bantamweight title against Hackney’s former British and European bantamweight champion Ian Napa later this week in Bolton. Davies came out of nowhere to wrest the British title with a seven-round stoppage of talented Welshman Matthew Edmonds earlier this year, having earned his chance with a two-round destruction of established Londoner Martin Power. Napa comes off a shock defeat to much taller Frenchman Malik Bouziane which cost him his European title (points). He had won the title with a sharp decision over Belgium’s useful Carmelo Ballone last October, then relinquished his British title, allowing Davies his chance, a chance Gary took with both hands against Edmonds. Now Napa will want his Lonsdale Belt back. Also tall for the weight, Davies will enjoy plenty of height, reach and power on the light-hitting Napa but will undoubtedly struggle with the ex-champ’s slickness and counterpunching. Napa has all the ‘moves’ and if he can tuck up and soak up Davies’ power, looks likely to regain the belt on a smart decision, although the younger, superfit Davies will always pose a threat, a serious threat. In fact, I have a feeling youth may well be served on Friday. Yep, Davies retains.
i reckon it will be a fairly even opening to the fight as both try to get a foothold on proceedings. i see gary davies putting alot in and bossing the middle rounds then tiring a bit towards the end allowing napa to close the gap in the scoring. i think davies' work rate will earn him a close UD.
going for gary ko, think he will be too big too strong for napa and think he will suprise people with how good he can box because lts be honest who has really seen him? every1 said he was going to get outboxed by edmonds yet he won 5 of the 1st 6 rounds and its the same this time everyone thinks napa will outbox gary but i just dont think napa has the power to keep gary back, plus garys in amazing shape and been sparring the best iv seen him, gonna be a good 50/50 fight regardless on a great bill imo
with brook v jennings and quigly v smith the week after, i will agree with this. the cards now have prospects like Price, Groves etc on them so they are semi decent.
