It is a lower price but it's not far off the $85. Going by the historical trends UFC ppv's will be $85 next year.

Espn are raising prices not due to extra costs but by there own words:

Disney, according to the report, says the increase reflects “the value of ESPN+ and the popularity and quality of UFC events.”

Some would say that is pure profiteering.

Showtime could argue the same thing saying the price reflects the popularity and quality of the Davis v Garcia fight.

I don't think that would be right as like espn they are just squeezing every nickel and dime from the customer they possibly can.

Dazn on Sky is a dagger through the heart of the competition. Included as part of your sub , no?

I mean not every UFC is even ppv. The quality, frequency and matchmaking is unrivalled right now.

I wouldn't mind paying ppv for a ppv worth boxing event, but they don't exist any more. We pay for a ppv fight, not a ppv card.

This $85 is between number 3 and 4 in a division, between two men who aren't champions. Mental.

But that's that not the barometer when deciding a ppv fight and it's price.

Haney v Lomo wouldn't sell anywhere close to the same numbers.

This price is dictated by the popularity of Davis and moreso Garcia.

They know Garcia has a huge social media following and a large amount of his fans will be happy to pay this price.

I agree that boxing ppv cards are not stacked but again boxings highest gross ppv fights have all been about the main event and for whatever reason boxing fans don't seem to mind buying a ppv main event only.

This is why the sport is dying. Most of the fans trend to lower income. In addition the higher the price the less viewership you get. In order to build names you need to have lower prices few pay-per-views

Exactly. Paying because of how popular a fighter is in social media.

    Absolutely crazy.

Never mind how exciting their style is, how stacked their resume is, how legit their achievements are.

Another reason why UFC is so far ahead now.

The upcoming roster of box fights are better than UFC's . Tank vs Garcia is a great fight. I'll re-sub for it

    UFC have done the same.

They signed CM Punk paying him an absolute fortune due to his WWE popularity. They paid CM punk $500k for his debut in UFC.

Didn't matter that he was terrible and lost as he brought pro wrestling fans to the ppv.

I remember when they put Shamrock v Ortiz rematch on ppv. Was nothing to do with how good either fighter was, Shamrock was well past it was simply down to how popular both fighters were.

This being a PPV sucks. I also don’t think it will make the numbers they think it will either. Tanks PPV numbers have been hidden and guarded. All I know is no promoter hides good PPV numbers or numbers that met their projected numbers. Garcia has a large teeny bopper fan base that will not translate to PPV buys.

These two queens could have made it on regular cable and get millions of viewers and potential new fans.
