Dawson had no defence for Pascals straight right down the pipe. His potshotting totally confused dawson he didn't know how to defend it. So how the hell will he defend against the sharper and more accurate Ward?
Dawson didn't struggle at all with Hopkins' circle and ambush tactics because he was cutting him off. Scully has worked wonders for Dawson's footwork to now he is almost always in position to punch. He followed Pascal around and was caught out of position. Really has no bearing on this fight since Ward isn't as explosive as Pascal and makes mistakes Chad can exploit.
Pascal is all twitch fiber, much more explosive speed and power than Ward. Ward is a technician. Technicians haven't given Dawson really any trouble. Ward probably runs the track on most everyone but Dawson and Dirrell are bad matchups for him.
I think Dawson was off that night not really an excuse but also to be noted when ever he did open up he hurt Pascal To be fair Pascal is bigger than Ward and might even be more explosive, he definitely hits harder i get the point your trying to make but Dawson needs to nullify the left hook the right is not as important i feel if Dawson is sharp he will block the hook and jab all night from the outside i guess its why they fight the fights
Pascal would be a problem for any 168lb-175lb fighter aslong as he doesn't gas out, his explosive power hurt Froch, Dawson and Hopkins and in saying that Ward fights nothing like Pascal infact he fights more like Hopkins then he does Pascal.
Pascal's stamina is very bizarre, i mean he won a fast paced fight injured vs Diaconu and then gets tired vs Hopkins twice, he did gas a little vs Froch too but the pace and the force on his shots would lead to that i think he just fights with a lot of nervous energy
Good observation in that Dawson stifled Hopkins' ambush tactics with pressure at range, rather than a timid defensive posture against Pascal...but I'd wager Ward is much more explosive in terms of speed and accuracy than Pascal was.
