After tonight, I like the match-up better than I previously did. Hopkins might not win, but he would have a helluva chance!
Well yeah LHW....Light heavy and Heavy are the worst divisions in boxing backed up by MW. I get the vibe that this thread is more about defending the HW division than anything else.
Dawson would probably wins some early rounds, but Bernard will get him late for sure. He would not let Dawson "steal" rounds on work-rate like with what happened against Jermaine. Be another nice little addition to the Legendary Executioner's resume!
Dawson would beat Hopkins, I have no doubt about that..Fighters like Dawson have always caused Hopkins problems. Funny thing about this Dawson sucks backlash is the fans that its coming from...Those being the ones that are major backers of those other fighters that Dawson is a threat to..
Agreed, but at the ABSOLUTE WORST... I think Hopkins can scrap his way by and keep it competitive. All the judges gave Tarver at least 3 rounds (I gave him 5 and was probably over generous), then Hopkins can keep the rounds close and rat out at least five or six. That's a worst case scenario. Dawson would undoubtedly make a better account of himself than Pavlik, even in a best case scenario that sees Bernard stop Dawson, but regardless... If I were Hopkins? I already called Golden Mo and said "Set it the **** up!" :smoke
There's a very good chance Hopkins beats him, Chad tends to wait a lot and that's what Hopkins wants.
No, you're wrong. Dawson, the way he fought tonight, is PERFECT for Hopkins at this stage. He cannot fight every minute of every round. Period. That Dawson fights in spurts plays into Hopkins' favor. Plus, "Bad" Chad didn't seem too confident in his abilities in the post-fight interview (which sucked, BTW, because of that half-wit Kellerman). I'm not even saying Hopkins would definitely win, but Dawson is NOT the type of fighter who has always caused Hopkins problems. Hopkins would be able to dictate the distance between them, and that would be key. Plus, Hopkins always looks fresher down the stretch than we have EVER seen Chad. I like Hopkins on points, and hope it happens.
And some people like the idiot Kellerman believed this tall talentless drink of water, Chad Dawson could even play in Joe Calzaghe's backyard? Ridiculous, Joe would box this bozo's socks off and dispense with yet another Amerobum. It's sad that this once proud boxing nation has as its best warrior a pacisfist Quaker like Chad Dawson as its representative. Joe would **** this overated Amerobum much like he did the hapless Hopkins.
Styles make fights and Hopkins has trouble against guys with handspeed however Dawson stamina and chin are question marks so Hopkins has a fair chance as well.
Tarver honestly was an actor in the first fight. I knew he would come back much stronger and I suspected that he may have a chance of even winning. However, the young and very skilled Dawson was still too much even for a truely focused Tarver. I find it nuts to be disappointed with Chad's performance. Many knew Tarver is day and night. This time the day version came - and Dawson was still to much. That deserves more credit than in the last fight - which honestly was a joke.
