Did you see him pulling any punches? I didn't. We don't know what this kid is thinking. It seems pretty clear he makes it harder for reasons he can control, and reasons he cannot. Equally. He sure as **** doesn't seem to mind either way. We have as much proof he's a sadist.

Which was the overriding storyline of the fight. Indeed.

Hopkins is not a hard hitter at 175, he just hits hard enough, although that's even questionable considering his age. If this fight does happen, imo it would be 30/70 in Dawson's favor, Hopkins doesn't have the work rate to knock out Dawson.

He was a sadist he would have fought with some ferocity. He was a sadist we would be having all these threads right now. Sadist boxers dont fight bored. They fight because they enjoy inflicting physical pain. And they dont coast and win rounds. They fight to see their opponent get hurt and battered and stopped hopefully.

Dawson is not one of those unfortunately.

Hopkins hasn't fought someone as skilled as Dawson since Jones Jr. in his prime.

I'm youtubing "Steve Bunce Chad Dawson" to relieve myself of some of the angst i'm feeling after watching this piece of crap. Tarver is a one shot wonder who shoulda retired long ago, and Chad dawson needs to get himself knocked, have a nervous breakdown, find god, and go with an evangelical mission to a distant island, where the natives slaughter him to one of their gods, cos thats the only time anything exciting is ever gonna happen involving him!

It doesn't matter what Tarver did or did not do. What matters is what Dawson should have done which is establish his credentials as the true champion of the division. After ducking a mandatory and refusing a rematch after a close fight, he now bores the fans with another drawn out points victory. How many tickets is he going to sell for his next fight? Why are his paychecks a fraction of the size of Pacquiao's? Pacquaio brings excitement to the ring, Dawson brings boredom.

Calzaghe is a more complete fighter than Chad, and is much more adaptable inside the squared circle.

PH|LLA is right, for my money.

That straight right hand will find a home all day.

Plus, you need to keep in mind, Dawson isn't exactly Mr. Activity himself.

I disagree. Why would a sadist "fight with (blanketed) ferocity," as you say? A sadist wants to inflict physical pain - true. They want the time and opportunity to do so. They aren't interested in making it short, simple, or easy. That's a SADIST... And then you say - they "don't coast?" And why not? Because you decided that? Dawson was UNQUESTIONABLY ferocious in between naps, BTW. He's not all stupid, MJ. Give the kid the least bit of credit for knowing what planet he's on at the least.

To Dawson's credit he probably could have won this fight even more convincingly. He tried to impress and got clocked by a couple of good shots. Tarver can put his punches together quite nicely when he has a target in front of him. Dawson was stepping forward and trying to give the fans a show but it was simply not the way to beat Tarver.

If you think Hopkins can counter Dawson all day with right hands than you're dead wrong. Dawson's defense has improved since his loss to Glen Johnson. The fight won't happen anyway, HBO is pushing for Glen-Chad II, and that's what fight fans want to see, the money will be there because of HBO. If Dawson turns this down, (and no he isn't fighting Bernard Hopkins) than I will take back everything I said about Dawson.
