Trust me, when Tarver lands one of his straight left hands on the chin of Dawson, he won't be able to recover. Dawson has a very weak chin. The fact that GJ was able to seriously stun him twice is telling enough.

I just saw the Tarver/Woods fight again last night and Tarver looked like the same guy who fought RJJ. Translation? All LHWs beware.

Of course he does, but he won't because 1) he's a *****, 2) he knows he will be in another tough war and probably lose AGAIN.

Klion, how did you score it? How did you have the rounds?

I'm not sure that Dawson has all that bad of a chin. If you watch the replay he got tagged with some fairly wicked flush shots and took them well.

I saw the fight live and at first thought Johnson won. The crowd that night was extremely pro-Johnson. They even booed every time they showed Dawson's face on the monitors over the ring during the Tarver/Woods fight.

Then I watched the replay twice, the last time with the sound off to spare having to listen to the announcers bias. I changed my mind and feel that Dawson won a close fight.

Johnson throws looping right counters. I know the conventional wisdom is that fighters that loop their punches is a bad thing but I wish I got a share of Berkshire Hathaway every time I've seen someone knocked out by one. They seem to come out of nowhere. Generally at a bad angle like to the temple or swivel the jaw and seem to sneak in at the most vulnerable times especially when it's a counterpunch. Dawson took a few of those.

All in all, for a 25 year old with 26 fights and sparse amateur background he's doing all right in my book. Unlike pros who have extensive amateur credentials his learning stage has had to take place in the professional ranks. He's beaten some very good fighters, has a belt and I can't name a single light heavy in the world that is a given to beat him.

I had it 7-5 Johnson. I didn't keep track of every round. I just score them as the fight goes on.

I'm sort of surprised that Johnson is whining about the decision like he is. He's usually a classy sportsman. Bottom line is that that fight was close, Dawson won it close or a draw at worst.

I personally don't think a rematch is even in order. Johnson probably understands that his days are numbered and is being vocal in order to entice one more big day. Can't blame him for that, but if I'm Dawson, I'm moving on to bigger fights.

90% of us had it 7-5 either way or a draw.

So why all this Dawson bashing when he had a great fight with a great fighter?
