Im inclined to question Dawson's mental fortitude to be honest.

His lackluster displays against Johnson, Tarver, then him not turning up against Pascal?

I thought how Dawson lost the title to Pascal was inexplicable, I mean Pascal did'nt have to rip it from him, Dawson just allowed him to do what he needed to do cause he was seemingly not mentally up for the challenge.

Reminds me of Tarver, a guy who needs two bites at the cherry cause he cant take his original chance, cause he cant execute when the pressure is on, although he can atone for his error once he's made it, but that's a physiological issue imo, see some sportsmen have to feel like they are fighting against the tide before they can perform, where as elite athletes are clinical in their excution, they will generally take their original chance cause they can perform under any type of pressure.

I think Dawson can take positives from fact Pascal was clinging on towards end when he opened up. Also from Pascal's display against Hopkins where down the stretch he just didn't seem to have much to offer.

It's a lot of if's and but's in predicting this one because we have new elements in terms of Pascal's performance in Hopkins fight as well as Manny being on board and how Chad will bounce back from defeat.

He allowed Jean to raid him with ease last time and only really forced the issue late on. Manny will have to prepare him a lot more mentally. Eddie did give him some decent advice although he missed a few things out that may of helped Chad in technical aspects. But he was right when saying step to him and Jab and then work the body. I can't argue with that...although you must ask yourself Eddie..you do know the beast so you should know the nature!....maybe he was fooling himself.

When Chad lead off he was so much more effective. I don't know if Jean can do anything different in terms of strategy?..he starts with lots of lateral movement and wins rounds off early raids and eye catching shots and then moves out to long range and doesn't want to engage.

Problem was in first fight Chad would stand posing and taking head off line and then Pascal would shoot in but Chad wouldn't dip and slide off he would just back up in straight line and get caught and Jean's punches in bunches ended up landing say 2 out of 4 or 5 in say 3 raids per round..but that would be enough to win very tight and marginal round.

He didn't offer any counters because he wasn't reading Pascals unorthodox attacks either other then the check hook and the check hook buzzed Jean..yet Chad wouldn't use it enough.

Larry Merchant made a brilliant comment about Dawson's first instinct is to defend not hit. It's true....it's a mindset that he must rid if he can. Some have in past, some have never.

Does Pascal bring anything different to table in this one??...i don't see it tbh.

If i was Manny with Chad my plan would be to take keep the lead right foot on outside of Jean's left. First fight he allowed Jean to stay on outside of it and Jean would throw a jab or eye taking left hook and sneak the right behind it.

I'd say to Chad get to centre from get go and use the jab and feint and then throw straight shots to body (Pascal pulls back in straight line) then step to him and keep cutting him down. I'd tell Chad if there's nothing happening when your at mid range step off and reset don't sit there early doors and let him have success with his raids.

I'd keep Pascal backing up early on, Even if Chad's not going to throw hard combinations let Jean waste himself early on move. Work behind stiff jabs and straight shots R/L's to body and then when Jean pulls full guard work hooks to body and when Pascal looks to hold bend those knees and work.

I think it's important Chad leads off most times make Jean snatch at his work and when he does let that Check Hook come into play.

I can't give you or anyone any reason to believe Chad can do this...it's more hope then belief but i just feel with Manny by his side there will be no back patting and tummy rubs and he may put that wrong right.

I just can't see Pascal continuing to use the same plan and getting away with it. I think if Chad steps to and keeps educated with his aggression he can take over from midway point. He must stop Pascal stealing rounds with raids. It's a Pascal Puzzle but a Puzzle that can be solved with the artillery Chad has IMO.
