Kessler comfortable UD or late stoppage.

Dawson will throw weak but flashy combo's to his gloves before resting but will eat right hands all night long as he's pretty damn easy to hit. Johnson showed this and his foot speed and hand speed are by no means great and those looping shots were landing frequently and hurting Dawson. Kessler has a very good workrate, power in both hands and is well schooled and disciplined. He also has very fast hands which people oft overlook... He has size on his side, but poor stamina and weak chin suggest to me that as the fight wares on he becomes more wary of Kesslers power and gets slowed down, hurt and maybe even KO'd. To Dawson's credit he does know what to do when hurt, but being hit by Johnson and Kessler I'd think are two very different things. Kessler throws much faster, much harder and with alarming accuracy and as said before... Dawson is far from elusive.

Someone in another thread called Dawson a poor mans Roy Jones... I dont think he's even earned that yet. Give it a year and I have a feeling he'll not be as talked about, he's an 'L' waiting to happen. Signs were there in the Johnson fight, a man who's been on some bad decisions, but also been beaten legitimately a fair number of times.

    Dawson wide UD.

Shave off the Calz nuthuggers and Dawson takes this poll equally wide. :deal

Kessler's already made it clear he's willing to step up to light-heavyweight to fight either Calzaghe or B-Hop. I'd see dawson and Kessler as more likely to fight at light-heavy as well, rather than a catch weight. The really big fights are up in Light-Heavy so i think Kessler'll move up there for good in time.

Kessler is a Supermiddle and is not going to light-heavy for good! In about a year or two the light-heavy looks to be one of the worst divisions out there.

Ok not "for good" then, but he's definately willing to fight there which was my main point.

I would pick Kessler by KO at 168, 175 and any weight in between.
Dawson is more flash than substance and Kessler is the most technically sound boxer operating at those weights right now.
Dawson looks impressive against slow-footed fighters like Tarver, when he can unload his fast punch combinations. Kessler, while not the fleetest of foot, is adept at keeping the proper angle and distance to foil combinations lead by the hook with his jab.
I don't think Dawson will get many chances to get his feet set and string together punches in this fight and will take a beating if this match comes off.

This is a tough fight to call.. A very close and entertaining fight.. I would probably lean towards Dawson a tad bit more at this moment, but could always see Kessler winning this fight.. A fight I would like to see and would be explosive.. Personally, I think theres a better chance of a Kessler/Hopkins fight getting made..

  11. i give dawson 3 rounds at most... If he makes final bell - I'd be very surprised

Kessler is completely overrated on this forum. I wish to God this fight would get made just so many of the delusional posters on this forum can see just how wrong they are about this fight.

I agree that kessler is being overrated in these Dawson - Kessler matchups. If the fight was at 175 Dawson rightfully should be considered as the favourite, at catchweight say 170 Dawson would still be be the favourite at the bookies. For me personally I would see it as fifty-fifty matchup.

My thing is what does Kessler have over Dawson? What does he do better than dawson. I cant think of a damn thing. Neither on has beat anybody, but i would give the nod to Dawson with the number of quality opponets he beat. They may be old but they were decent especially glen Johnson
