You probably don't even know when was Bernard's prime. More, I doubt that even without blinking, you cannot perceive Bernard's superiority to Dawson in generalship, technique and boxing IQ or wisdom if you want to call it. Hoya was a far superior technician than Dawson is now, just that he didn't have the size but forget about that cause looking at a guy like Tua, you sense that reach is not that important, arm length maybe, so if you are too tall and you are under your natural weight, you are not doing well. You don't have the best footwork cause your steps are too wide. You cannot work well inside your range cause your arms are too large. Man, these are the fundamentals and if you have two fundamentally sound fighters in there, and if one of them doesn't have the awkward style or that extra quality like Jones and Calzaghe had and that is handspeed and coordination, you always lean towards the better boxer and that is Bernard Hopkins. Knockout my ass! Chad doesn't have power, he has flashy hands and he can outjab you, not outwork you so I leave it this way and don't make me comeback to your non original thread! 9th round! 9th round! 9th round! You guys are fortune tellers or what? Get a job!
NO way in hell Hopkins gets TKO'd. He is not only too intelligent skill-wise, but mentally, too, if he feels as if a TKO is coming, he'll find another way out, I betcha.
I said in the other thread that it would look like the Ronald Winky Wright fight(who I believe is techinically superior than Dawson, even though he's not as big and as athletic, but he had fast hands too and great timing) and if you closely watch how frustrated Winky was, who was never a small guy compared to Hopkins(even though everyone keeps saying that, winky walked around at 190Ibs.) and how he couldn't establish a jab(he had the best jab in the boxing at the time and one of the best defenses), I don't see Dawson doing any better. If you watch the first round of their fight, you can clearly see how frustrated he was getting from Hopkins lateral movement and the way Hopkins was controlling the distance, he was starting to break Dawson down mentally. Hopkins ring IQ is too much and he also has an experienced Corner that favors him, only way Dawson would have a better chance if Manny Stewart was still training him, than it would be a little harder for B-Hop.(I'd still pick B-Hop by Decision though.
I love old B Hop but I think we will start seeing his age in rounds 5-7 and then a stoppage in round 8. He will say that he wants a rematch and that he "wasn't hurt."
