Dawson's style isn't bad for Hopkins. A bad style for Hopkins would be an overly active and aggressive one, that type of style would force Hopkins to show his age, even then it would still be ugly and close. Dawson takes unusual random breaks even when he has an opponent hurt, the man is beyond annoying to watch. He would do great for 30 seconds then take the round off. I just can't see how that style would beat Hopkins, especially by TKO unless he lands a lucky punch. If he does land a lucky punch, watch Dawson take the round off rather than attempt to finish it as he did against Pascal in a fight he KNEW he was losing.
This is the state of mind that this mothas get us in when we r all alone. Myself and 3 cats and waiting and waiting. And when I come here, then I have to take on these threads with a title and no text other than that - Dawson 9th round TKO - I mean it is legitimate like any other result other than a disq. This guy in the video is naturally drunk a but he's looking on fast and anxious as hell, definitely on my frequency: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsNqPWLvKxc[/ame]
more shocking if hopkins get caught cold and the fight is over in the 3rd round..... they guy is 47... i wouldnt think anything other than he went out on his shield and took on the best at his age while doing so...no shame in him losing tonight..which he will
Scar, I do respect you and at this moment but you gotta admit, the guy is bad news but Hopkins is not gonna show up in there and just get his payday. I mean, this is another level and both guys know that there is nothing above this. An active and aggressive style like Calzaghe isn't it but that was in 2008 and Chad was 25 years old, now he's 29 and he is coming active and aggressive. Forget about random breaks when Nard can possibly get hurt. He's even changing his style of talkin to catch that spotlight and move into stardom. No lucky punch cause these guys foresee these punches coming even by the corner of the eye or even without watchin. He will try to finish Bernard like he was on the verge of doing it to Pascal, Lampley, Max, everybody said that the guy was ready to go, yes, of course b'cause he was losing...
I don't think by ko but I do think Dawson beats Hopkins tonight. Looking foward to this and hopefully we don't get ripped like we did last time. Dawson by UD.
Hopkins stops Dawson in 6 rounds. The old man goes for broke and comes through in style. Goes down in history as a bad ass fighter, all time! peace out:good
The respect is mutual Dorf and I do agree that Dawson is definitely improved. Still though he won't/can't change his style completely, there may be some improvements but it's still the very same. If you watch his most recent fights he still has the bad habit of waiting and was doing it on the undercard of Hopkins/Pascal II. You CAN'T wait against someone like Hopkins, that's what Hopkins feeds on as was proven in the Tarver fight. Even if he's 47 I don't see how Dawson will be able to take advantage of it by throwing for 30 seconds each round. If Dawson wants it he has to go right after Hopkins and keep throwing, at 47 Hopkins MAY be broken down and even TKO'd if Dawson keeps throwing nonstop. Sadly, he won't because he lacks the stamina. Even against Pascal he had the man hurt BADLY with a solid uppercut that got Pascal stiff and ready to be taken, yet Dawson backed off and took the round off. That was hilariously frustrating to watch. And all of that happened against Pascal who isn't that hard to hit, so I can't see how he would get that opportunity and take advantage of it against someone as crafty and unpredictable as Hopkins, even a 47 year old Hopkins. This is boxing though, anything is possible. For all we know one punch from either fighter could end the fight.
He will be very alert and no more senseless early on cause he will try to study and concentrate hard on this guy to adjust right about there, 3rd round, even at 47, he won'tt get caught cold there but I don't see him going out on his shield except if he's behind on the scores and according to his corner who know better and are paying attention to the HBO broadcast and Lederman's scorecard. No shame in him losing you say. He vowed to beat this guy and even tho the fella also vowed to Kayo him, losing it's still no option after the whole thang...
Hopefully he may ease it and for some mental reason that I cannot explain, he may leave the work undone. Actually I was very surprised why he didn't finish Pascal right there. I didn't see that Diaconu fight but he's with a new trainer and the major motivation is the Championship fight and Hopkins himself. I don't see Chad throwing nonstop a la Calzaghe but I can see him dictate a hard pace and leave Nard uneasy to build any offense in between but he can most definitely make the best of making him miss and countering while he's under charge. It all depends on mindsets and I know Nard is not a bit afraid of getting caught cold at this assaults.Nard and Chad will not get kayoed like the Black Russian cause they are hyper-motivated. What Hopkins can do after the first early fast paced rounds that even Harold Lederman predicted to be exciting, it is to slow down the pace and control the tempo so that he can win the rest of the rounds like in the first Taylor fight. Chuck Giampa is from vegas and is not there anymore, there are no comments outside the ropes that can influence white or black or asian origin judges. I guess it could be fair to see Nard win a SD for a change now and comparing with the Taylor and Calzaghe bouts. No disrespect or unfairness for Dawson of course.
That's very possible, I can't exactly argue with that assessment. If Dawson does keep Hopkins uncomfortable by countering and being unpredictable despite his predictable inactivity then he has a great chance to bank more rounds. I doubt Hopkins will open up unless he feels desperate midway through the fight especially after he was hurt in the 2nd round against Pascal when he did open up. I doubt trainers will make much of a difference at this stage. Even Emannuel Steward was overly frustrated with Dawson's inactivity at times when he should be active and has great openings that welcome it.
Dawson would have to face a 70 year old B-Hop to have a chance of knocking him out. Bump this if I'm wrong. I really hope I am.
No, i'm sayin if he leaves Hopkins uncomfortable to take his own assaults back when he eases down the pressure, then it is HOPKINS that has to do two things at the same time, dodge and slide, and counter while the guy is putting on the pressure. It will look like Hopkins is engaging but not exactly in the way Dawson would want to. I am not sayin for HHopkins to open up cause he knows better that that is foolish. For instance, if he comes in faking a double jab and taking steps forward, slide to the angle and counter-jab him or even drop that right hand at the time he's exaactly about to unleah his left to score. That split second when Chad is about to go from the one, double , triple jab to the two-the str8 left is crucial here, Bernard gat to be first dropping the counter-jab or the right, otherwise he can sneak right hands all fight long and without feiting first cause this guy is gonna drop his guard at some time.
