They won't be meeting, but for arguments sake, if old man Johnson beat Dawson, Calzaghes style, footwork, speed and power(if he uses it) would be too much.

    Hmm...

6'3", southpaw, fast and quite powerful.

    Does that look like Lacy?

Does his chin come into play in this fight? Does Calzaghe hit as hard as Johnson or Adamek?

I think the answers are no and no... therefore I think it is an interesting fight. I think it is an - unfair - fight actually in many ways because Dawson and Calzaghe are not equally sized boxers in any way.

IF Dawson was 6'1", yes, then despite his speed etc etc I still think Calzaghe would clearly win, but the whole package may be a problem for Joe?

the only reason calzaghe hasnt knocked anyone out lately is because he has a bad hand,he has power.
he just uses his speed instead to protect his hand,
if for anyreason he was behind in the later rounds of a fight i think you would see his power being used.
see his ko percentage.71.1 %.that was alot higher before he started using just speed.

I think Dawson can win a decision don't think either will score KO but could be knockdowns for both.

His KO percentage is actually 4.4%, as he has had two KNOCKOUTS in 45 fights. His stoppage percentage is 66.7% because he has had 30 TKOs in 45 fights. Overall, that comes out at 71.1%. This gives you a truer picture of Calzaghe's punch power - which was never great. His handspeed and dominating skills often stopped lesser opponents, but he didn't carry this power as well onto world title level, as he only managed to stop 11 of 23 challengers, including ZERO KO's - and a lot of those 23 were not exactly world-class fighters.

However, whereas I don't think Joe would have a snowball's chance in Hell of stopping a guy who stood up to Glen Johnson's best for 12 hard rounds, I do think he could win the fight.

The fight could go one of two ways: Calzaghe could box with speed and movement the way he did against Kessler and win on points, or Dawson's size, muscle and output would break Joe down over the course and either stop him late on or edge the decision.

I am not confident picking either option, for me this would be a totally 50/50 fight.

If pushed, I'd go with Dawson as his handspeed and workrate could probably now match the 36-year-old version of Calzaghe, and I think Dawson has the edge in strength.

But who knows. Two quality fighters, it would be a brilliant fight, here's hoping! :good

The guy lost to Glen Johnson, he doesn't deserve to be compared to Calzaghe, he is not in the same class, he is not in the next lowest class, he is a solid two classes below, at best.
