The same Glen Johnson that it is common knowledge that Joe pulled out of fighting and thereafter actively avoided?? I think Joe would've won if they had ever fought, but your assessment of Glengoffe is all wrong. You are looking at the record and not the fighter. Watch his fights before you judge.

Just looking at the fight programme from the lacy fight and lacy beats joe in every measurement bar one. including height, reach etc.
I honestly don't think Dawson has the smarts to beat joe. As i have previously stated, Joe has a way of owning the centre of the ring and pivoting to make his opponent miss and move alot and tire themselves out. it is no coincicidence that most fighters decline rapidly in the second half of a fight against him.
Dawson would cause a problem for joe, as would B-hop, Johnson and will jones Jr but at this moment in time I think joe has the upper hand. Everybody seems to obsess over power when it comes to Joe but it didn't do kessler any good did it?

This was all at a time when his hand suffered it's worse injury. Add to that some very suspect performances that were blamed mostly on his very publicly messy divorce. Johnson was dangerous but i agree with you that joe is the better man.

Jeff Lacy: 5 feet 10 inches, 74 inch reach, natural fighting weight 168lbs
    Chad Dawson: 6 feet 3 inches, 76 1/2 inch reach, nfw 175lbs

Bringing up any size difference in the Lacy fight is irrelevant, Dawson is far bigger, and a far better boxer anyway.

Joe is a better fighter and would've won, but the guy who said Dawson wouldn't beat Joe because Dawson had so much trouble with Johnson was wrong. Johnson would give Calzaghe trouble as well at 175, no doubt. If Calzaghe didn't know that then he would've taken the Johnson fight instead of Salem or whoever it was, because the Johnson fight was more money.

he smoked adamek and BHOP had calzaghe down but I still thought joe won...u r so biased it is unreal...u pick out that adamek had him down...totally dismissing that he completely outclassed him the whole rest of the fight...fighters get knocked down it is how they get up that counts...and he beat johnson

Don't even bother trying to explain to him Paulie, the guy is beyond help. You could point out that Glen Johnson is a very good, very strong, very experienced light-heavyweight who has only been stopped once (by an ATG) in 61 fights and never gives anyone an easy night, or you could make him aware that Tomasz Adamek is now ranked #2 up at cruiserweight, but he's so riddled with bias he wouldn't even understand.

I always find it hard to pick between two southpaws, you can never quite tell how it's gonna go. However, i'm picking Calzaghe on points on this one in a close contest. Dawson definately isn't going to KO Calzaghe, his chin is just too good, and Dawson, like Calzaghe, has stopped most of his opponents via stoppage as opposed to KO.

I think Calzaghes speed would be the key factor here, and i also think he would be the aggressor overall thus winning any close rounds

Calzaghe wins it by putting on the same type of pressure that Johnson did, only he neutralises Dawson's jab and main weapon, as jabs never work against Calzaghe. He also does it with more speed, and greater overall ability. From there he takes advantage of Dawson's defensive frailties, and makes sure his questionable stamina is really tested.

Calzaghe also has the edge in adaptability and ring IQ. He finds a working gameplan and sticks to it. Dawson hasn't shown an ability to always do so.

glen johnson did not beat him wtf fight were you watching? And so what that adamek had him down he still lost. And this was the same polak who went up to cruiser and beat Supernova and is about to clean house up there.
