The fight between the WBC champ and his mandatory challenger is gonna happen. But there still trying to find a date. They were looking for June 19 but GYM (Pascal promoter) couldn't guarantee that he would be healthy. They might look for the end of summer or start of autumn (august-september).

2007 was the last time Dawson fought someone under 40, pretty funny if you think about it.

You have missed the most intriging part of the article. Pascal's promoter, Yvon Michel told the press that both clan have agree on a rematch clause. Doesn't mather who win the first fight, a second fight is already planned.

also, the first fight will most likely be held in Montreal. There will be another title fight in the undercard, one of the fighter will be from Québec. No name have yet been mention

The next time people wonder why Chad's not a superstar, I'd like them to do nothing more than look at his fight schedule and kindly tell me how he expects to develop that kind of fanbase if he's not even averaging 2 fights a year in his prime.

Don't get me wrong, I love the matchup here- but there's a good chance it'll be his only fight in 2010 after only fighting twice against Johnson and Tarver the last two years.

Good point. Dawson's got a lot against him though. A large part of the top ten at light heavy for quite a while have been fairly well aged, then he's not a knockout guy, plus the activity level you mentioned. I don't think they market him very well either, talented as he is.

I'd pick Dawson in this one myself. Just don't see Pascal having the tools. Make fun of Dawson fighting old/EXPERIENCED fighters if you will, but it will help him in this fight.

And on the knockout bit, you factor in that Tarver has never been stopped and Johnson only once and Adamek never stopped either, and those are his five biggest name fights. No knockouts.

Pascal needs a tuneup after his surgery. He won't be at 100% in his first fight back.

Absolutely. This guy has a better education than any young light heavweight by far. He's got a pugilistic master's degree.

Those are all good points. Just sucks that we never got to see him compete against the top 2 guys of the old guard; I figured he'd rule the division with an iron fist once those fights fell through, but it's tough to establish that if the fights don't get made and fans don't get to regularly see you fight. That's fine for established guys, but not ones still building their name value.

Not all of that's his fault, of course. I thought Cloud's team really left Dawson between a rock and a hard place when they turned down HBO and essentially forced Chad's hand to drop his belt. Had that fight happened, that would've gone a ways towards Dawson showing himself as the best of his peers.

Cloud...there's another dude that should be fighting more often. I never thought I'd see a new champ not try to cash in on his belt more with at least a couple easy, relatively frequent defenses.

Without fighting, it's tough to realize the value of your name. I know this is dragging on due to my sleep deprivation, but I just don't get some of the management with some of these fighters who should be striking while the iron's hot.
