Thanks Big Reg but I thought he was been fairly respectful of Dawson and was questioning the neccessity of fighting him rather than saying Dawson who?

I wouldn't say fighting Kessler in Wales is the pinnacle of the sport.

Dawson did not have grant a Tarver rematch for his next fight. He could be fighting someone else. The rematch clause is no excuse for him to take the fight right now especially after he called out Calzaghe. He's ducking Johnson, Kessler, and Calzaghe if he does this. He could have waited some time before fighting Tarver again, and maybe Tarver would have decided not to go through with it. He should just buy washed up Tarver out.

Whatever you think of Calzaghe and Kesslers abilities, two unified champs fighting for the undisputed world title is about as big as it gets.

It depends on the strength of the division and quality of the boxers. Personally I think it's a very good win for Calzaghe but nothing more. Kessler has done nothing more then prove himself to be a decent belt holder in a weak division so far, he's not even p4p.

It's hardly suprising, after seeing the fight he gave Joe, no wonder the Ameribums like Dawson are running scared.

I thought Joe won it at a canter after the first few rounds, Kessler looked clueless, one dimensional, and unable to change anything. These boards have gone Kessler mad and its only because he beat a couple cans recently, and the Calzaghe fan club desperately need him to have some sort of Great boxing credibility. He's a decent level ABC champ so far, nothing more, nothing less.

If HBO wants this fights, then that runs in direct contradiction to what they were just saying as to no longer putting on mismatches, seeing as how they're first fight was so lopsided.:nono

This is really just about Tarver being a punk and looking to cash out with either rematch money or step aside money. Did Dawson not pay Diaconu step aside money to pursue the more lucrative Tarver fight? The problem here is lack of a more lucrative fight, despite possibilities out there. It seems like he's jumping the gun and doing the safe thing and any way you look at it, it just looks bad. Especially considering he dropped a belt and paid step aside money and refused to give a more rematch worthy Johnson another go, to put himself in the spot he is now, which is acting in direct contradiction of his words and actions that he took to secure the original Tarver fight. Now all the sudden, its imperative to defend the belt instead pursue a better payday and more than likely a more competitive fight?

And why not wait a bit and see if you can land that BHop fight? Or an RJJ fight (which I think is a better match-up style-wise than Tarver and probably more competitive)? Or possibly even a Kessler fight (Kessler seems to want it, despite what Palle may or may have not said)? Any of those fights are more than likely PPV. Calzaghe seems to be a long shot since it looks like he's waiting for these guys to fight each other and see who wins. Unfortunately, none of these guys seem to want to fight each other, they just want to fight Calzaghe.

Financially prudent or not, this just looks horrible considering that Johnson is still out there.

Haven't Kessler and Calzaghe basically said they want none of Dawson?

Then how could Dawson be ducking them? :huh

Now, should Johnson get a shot before Tarver-yep.

If you want to make a fuss over Dawson rematching Tarver instead of Johnson than you got a point.

But saying Dawson is ducking Kessler and Calzaghe :yikes:yikes:yikes dont be a fool.

I'm not really disagreeing with you, if there was more difference between the weights so fighters couldn't jump between them as easily then winning the Undisputed title at your strongest weight would be the pinnacle, but in practise you can bring in other things.
Bearing in mind that the LHW division has been so fragmented for years, beating Kessler to become undisputed champ, in front of 50,000+ fans, was as good as it could ever get for Calzaghe - in a strictly sporting sense.
