Why doesnt he fight Kessler? This is what is **** about boxing. Obvious match-ups never get made for $$$ reasons and prople are chicken ****.

Say what you like about Calzaghe's early days but he unified his division - beating two promising young (prime) fighters, one of which is the heir to the 168 throne, and the other reduced to a shell of his former self post JC - and then stepped up to beat the top man at the division above him, followed by a money fight. Dawson hasnt done anything that great.

wow you have absolutely no clue. he is not going to just vacate belts he worked so hard to get and also pass up the $$ that comes with fighting Tarver. He had the rematch clause so he is stuck. You should have known that before making this stupid thread.

Tyson held a rematch. This meant that if he wished to invoke it, Lewis would be obligate to fight him again. Tarver supposedly has a rematch clause. Therefore, if he invokes it(which is what might have happened here), then Dawson would be obligated to fight him again. If Dawson could simply decide not to ahead with the remtach without any repercussuions, there would be no point to a rematch clause in the first place.

He was obligated to fight Diaconu and vacated a belt to fight Tarver. That's completely hypocritical, and Calzaghe is besides the point. This is a bs rematch. Why not fight Diaconu? Or a rematch with Glen Johnson who is far more deserving?

First off, Calzaghe was in his mid 30's when he fought those fights. Dawson is 26 and has accomplished more at that age than Calzaghe at 26. Second, Kessler's own promoter said he didn't want to match Kessler with Dawson. Meanwhile, Dawson and his promoter say they welcome the fight. I find it suspicious that Kessler supposedly comes out after Dawson is signed to fight Tarver and says Dawson doesn't want to fight him.

Diaconu has a fight scheduled with Branco and then has a mando due against Johnson(I doubt HBO would apporve a Dawson/Diaconu fight anyway). As far as Johnson is concerned, I'm not sure why that rematch isn't happening. Then again, I also don't know what the penalty is if Dawson were to renig on the rematch clause.

I get sick of hearing this pish about how Calzaghe only fights shot fighters and Dawson is some kind of saviour of the division.

Tarver is 40 ****ing years old ffs.

If Dawson fought Diaconu he would get another belt so it's bs to say he can't give up his belts.

Diaconu already has a fight scheduled and then has a mando due against Johnson after that. Diaconu is not an option right now.

Time will tell. He still has 10 years. Calzaghe had never even beat a current champion until he was 34. Dawson has already done that twice.

Well Garay or Eredei will both be available soon, the point is if he's so worried about belts then I'm sure he could get a fight for one, but it would pose the question why did he just give one up.

Calzaghe doesn't even have an alphabet belt, so if Dawson wants to fight him that's clearly not his motivation.

Calzaghe was twice the fighter at 26 than dawson is right now.
Also dawson unfortunately did not win a major title in the division where calzaghe did at 25 and dawson at 26
