Both were at one time, but even in their respective primes neither were really elite fighters, unlike the two that Calzaghes been slated for fighting.

If they want to make money I'm sure American multinationals would pay more to advertise to multinational audiences.

With HBO and American boxing fans thinking like this, its no wonder fighters get hyped up, and people like Kessler, Calzaghe and a legion of other nationalities don't get fights that fans years later claimed they never made.

This is why people say boxings dying, a bull**** fight like Dawson Tarver, whom the American public may watch, instead of competitive boxing matches.

I was really hoping for Calzaghe v dawson, and it's pissed me off this has happened, I saw Joe taking that scalp and silencing all teh doubters, and the other side, Dawson would have been elevated to a massive standing had he been the man to beat Calzaghe... if he did Calzaghe, finished off a few other champs, 10yrs time, people would be talking about him. The rewards for both would have been massive, aswell as for the fans.

Intsead we now have a boring lethargic one sided fight prospect.

international audiences pay a flat fee for the HBO product and show there own adverts .

european tv comapny`s do not have to pay a lot to HBO because europe is aslepp when HBO goes out.

the world`s biggest boxing tv market is germany and they do not show fights like dawson and tarver on there mainstream channels.

No one is really getting on Calzaghe for fighting Hopkins. However, a fresher version of Jones was knocked out by both Tarver and Johnson.

Precisely but they might show Dawson vs Eredei or something. You would get Americans watching Chad and Europeans watching Eredei.
If HBO exec's cant make more money from a bigger international TV audience, they should **** off and let me do their job.
Even if it is unimaginable to some Americans to ever move the time of a fight to suit foreign audiences, Europeans are used to watching sports at weird times, we all watch the World cup etc.

HBO is part of a multi billion dollar conglomerate. They know how to make money.

No-one is getting on Calzaghe for fighting Hopkins since Hopkins beat Pavlik. They did immediately after the Cal-Hop fight when everyone thought B-Hop would retire or collect a few more pay checks getting hidings of Pavlik and the like.

Personally, I'm not interested in another Dawson/Tarver fight. However, if Calzaghe really wanted to fight Dawson that fight would be happening. One of the reasons this rematch is happening is because Calzaghe is not interested in fighting Dawson.

I don't get what your beef is. Calzaghe has gotten plenty of respect when he has beaten good opponents. HBO has given him numerous dates, he got a 24/7 show, and was a able to headline an HBO ppv. Anytime he wants to fight, HBO is willing to air it. I'm not sure what type of praise or recognition you're looking for.

Dawson, as i keep saying, should be chasing Calzaghe, promoting himself, and luring Calzaghe into it, otehr boxers do this, Dawson hasn't, it's down to Dawson to chase Calzaghe and tempt him, not the other way around, especially has he apparently called Joe out!

If Calzaghe was fighting someone else instead then he may be due some criticism but the talk is only of him fighting Dawson or retiring. He's not giving Roy Jones a rematch or anything.

klitchko fights in america are shown live on german tv , and germany tv definatley has the finance to compete with HBO.

but germany likes a german based fighter to compete and has little intrest in american boxing as a whole.

hence them refusing to ever hold fights to suit american tv.

american tv is the same in reverse, i really do not see how they can export there boxing product simply because germany is 6 hours in front.

but german tv boxing audience dwarfs HBO by as much as 10 to 1.

I don't care if Calzaghe retires, that's fine with me. However, the guy I responded to claims that Dawson is ducking Calzaghe. How can he be ducking Calzaghe when Calzaghe has pubically stated he's not interested in fighting Dawson?
