...and wants to challenge the winner of the Super Six Tournament. If he ends up doing this...how will this change the 168 division?

I think the Super Six winner beats Dawson. A good potential fight though.

I have a feeling that in the next year or two that there will be plenty of guys from SMW looking to move up (or down).

SMW is packed with talented guys. It's hard for anyone to make a dent in that division, the competition is too good. So I think we will see some SMW move up to LHW instead, where they may be able to get an immediate shot at a title.

In the meantime Dawson can continue to take care of business at LHW. Perhaps he can beat up on Cloud.

Dawson'a already a big guy at 175lbs. Don't think it's such a good idea for him to go down now. Most guys at 168 will go up eventually anyways.

Just am. Sounds like a "keep my name out there" statement. A tall 27-year-old fighter who got his first world title at light heavyweight three whole years ago decides he's willing to move down in weight to fight an elite SMW fighter after not weighing in at 168 for four whole years, even when it's more customary that the smaller man move up for big fights. He's that hungry for a fight with an as yet undetermined fighter that he's saying that. That hungry even though he's not exactly been active in his own division where his first fight this year alone hasn't happened and won't until at least mid August.

I hear there's even a rematch clause going both ways for Pascal. And since he's already had two high profile rematches...how far away could this possible fight be? He'll be twenty-eight by Pascal, might be twenty-nine by the time he's done with Pascal and the SS is over, but he's still willing to move down to take the challenge. I'm suspicious of how serious the statement should be taken as if he were serious, he'd be throwing away a big negotiating edge off the bat by saying this. That's all.

    Yeah, Dawson is over-rated IMO.

Dawson has been saying this for years. But when HBO raised talk of Dawson v Kessler, Mogens Palle refused unless it was 170 or below and Gary Shaw refused unless it was at 175.

Either actually do it or shut up.

what exactly has Dawson done recently than beat 40 year olds that merits up a chance to face the winner of Super 6?

the winner of Super 6 vs Bute. Winner of that then chases the other belt holders to unify the division.

Dawson has Pascal to worry about, and anyway, he will have to hang around for 18 months in the hope that he can get the fight. No chance is that happening.

In fact Dawson has more chance of fighting Pavlik than the winner of Super 6.

To say that Dawson will beat all top10 SMW makes him extremely overrated! 168 division right now must be at least 3 times deeper than 175.. and not to mention Dawson last two opponents in four fights was 40 years old `over the hill fighters`!

But i hope he will go down there and take the challenge!
