What has Bute ever done? There is no comparison between the resumes of Dawson and Bute.

Dawson has been saying for a while that he could make 168, I think its a big ask, he's been at 175 for a good while now - what does he normally weigh entering the ring?

    He could end up drained.

Its a pity that Bute didn't get into the Super 6, however he is still the IBF champ, if he holds on to the belt and perhaps adds the WBO title - the winner of the Super Six has a good chance of coming out as WBA/WBC champ.

Then we have our unification bout.

I love seeing boxers who unify their division.

After that they step up to face Dawson.

As long as Dawson isn't drained no one at 168 will touch him.:deal He will be favored over everyone in the division and rightfully so.

If Dawson beats Pascal this summer than that would probably make him the consesus for top guy at 175 if he already isn't. The winner of the Super Six will be a big time player and to a lesser extant the runner up will be too. Especially if its Dirrell or Ward who win then I see them moving up to 175 to challenge Dawson in a huge fight. If Dawson can keep his claim as the dominant guy at 175 then him and Ward or Dirrell would make for a big fight on HBO.

If one of the Europeans win then I think Bute becomes their target if Bute keeps his claim as the best guy not in the tournament. Dawson simply needs to keep beating the best guys the division has to offer and in the next year or two some of the top guys from 168 will be looking to move up. With Pavlik entering the division there is simply a logjam at 168 and some will look to the weak 175 division as a smart place to go.

Yeah, the thing when people slam Dawson for fighting 40 year olds is that those 40 year old guys were tough fights. I have no doubt that Johnson and Tarver would have beaten some of the guys in the SUper Six. I'm glad Dawson is going to face someone his own age for a change but those old men were tough fights. And his win over Adamek keeps looking better and better.

The Super Six will take too long for Dawson to wait for a winner. He could fight Bute in the meantime.

Expected him to show some kind of desperation, the man desperately wants the big money fights and there are none at Light heavy. Even if he goes to heavyweight or cruiser there's nothing promising there either.

he could fight Cunningham / Troy Ross winner at CW

If he goes down to 168 he will be drained and get his ass kicked.

the big money come from the Super Six winner. thing is from what i hear Showtime Covered there ass and has a clause for the winner to fight on show time his next 3-5 fights. so HBO won't be steeling the show.

so Dawson probally won't be fighting the winner and neither will bute(if he signed a long term contrat with HBO.) look for Show time to make fights with some up and comer or fights with fighters that didn't meet up

All the Calzaghe haters say Calzaghe retired rather than fight Dawson, but if Dawson is now willing to go down to 168lbs how come he didnt do it when Calzaghe was there? Calzaghe would have been a bigger fight then any of the fighters Dawson has fought, when he fought them. Interesting

Dawson could face Bute at a catchweight but I think HBO could want to keep him for the winner of Bute-Super 6 winner.

Let him fight Lucian, that would be a good fight. Even as good as Dawson is, I don't see him beating Bute, at 168.

There's absolutely no reason why Dawson-Bute can't be made this year.
