Dawson should stop ducking Diaconu, prove his shaky chin and act like a man!

I don't think Tarver can beat Dawson but I didn't expect him to beat Woods either so who knows.

I think Kessler has the best chance to beat Dawson but...Kessler has to fight first.

You're impressing me more and more. You're like that very slow kid in class that still doesn't understand what 2 + 2 means.

    It's like talking to a rock.:wall

Tarver is 40. He won't be around for ever. Dawson is the new kid on the block. He's the future. The judges would never give Tarver a close fight! Does Tarver have the power to KO Dawson? No! Does Dawson have the workrate and style to impress the judges against Tarver? Sure thing!

This is an easy one to analyse, I think...

Tarver knows this but he also knows he's 40 and finishing his career by fighting a unification fight against a future hall of famer for a lot of money, headlining his own bill is not a bad way to go...;)

    :good

I don't understand Dawson's infatuation with Tarver. He's got the name and that's it. at 40, how can putting this on his resume be any good?

See how everybody says Calzaghe only fights old past their primes HOF? Same thing was said of PBF. Dawson wants that?

Roger Mayweather was right on the button on this, he's kinda slow.

That truly depends on the "shakiness" of Dawson's chin. I'd like to believe Glenn Johnson isn't THAT much more powerful than Tarver. If Johnson can get to Dawson then it's possible Tarver could get to him as well...not too mention Tarver won't wear down as easily as The Road Warrior did chasing Dawson in the middle rounds.

Dionocu has earned the opportunity. I wanna see him fight the champ as well. I just don't think his chances are that good.

Again I'd like to see Kessler-Dawson....that's the fight IMO.

Tarver doesn't have as good a chin as Johnson and he's not a pressure fighter. I don't think he can just box his way to a victory against Dawson. No with American judges, anyway...

Kessler might be fighting Braehmer at 175 in June for the WBA title. This could set up Kessler v. Dawson further down the line!:happy

Ok, youre tiring me out here.

Look, regardless of what you, me, or anyone else thinks.

Dawson and his people feel Tarver is the better move right now.

Youre so blinded by your love of AD that you cant grasp that.

You're making it out like Dawson is somehow afraid of AD

I know I'd rather see him face Tarver. I'd imagine Showtime would too.

If those purses are correct, than Dawson must feel the name recognition of beating Tarver will make up the 400,000 down the road.

Its not hard to understand really, you just dont like the way it plays out.

    Decebel,

Would you please be kind enough to provide links proving the validity offers?

Back in August when the original purse bid took place, here's what happened:

    "DKP to promote Dawson-Diaconu!
    By Dave Spencer, fightviews Canada
Don King Productions won the purse bid for Chad Dawson's defense of his WBC light-heavyweight belt against mandatory challenger Adrian Diaconu this afternoon in Mexico City. King's winning bid was $1,385,000 which edged out Gary Shaw Promotions' bid of $1,330,000. Diaconu's Montreal promoter Interbox came in at $454,000 while Gankor Promotions, a group from Romania, bid $1,111,000. Dawson won the championship with a twelve round decision over Tomasz Adamek in February while Diaconu became his mandatory challenger with a spectacular third round knockout victory over Rico Hoye this past May. No date has been set but it is believed that September 29th is the most likely date."

From where do you get Dawson getting a 1 million dollar payday to fight Diaconu?

    Name's "Decebal"...;)

Diaconu was supposed to get around $400k and Dawson around $600k for their fight...

Someone was saying that Dawson made $500k-$600k fighting Johnson.

Diaconu made EURO600k and Henry made EURO400k, fighting each other. That's around $950k for Diaconu...close to one million.

The Romanians were saying they would give Dawson as much as Diaconu made against Henry if he agreed to fight Diaconu in Romania, next.

What does Tarver do for Dawson?

A whole hell of a lot more than Diacona.

Beating Tarver gives him the name recognition that might entice future paydays.

Jones/Calzaghe, Hopkins, Pavlik, you name it.

If Dawson beats Tarver he'll have a much better chance of facing one of them then if he beats Diagonu.

Your PBF analogy shows that. Mayweather is now one of the biggest names in boxing, behind Oscar.

He can face whoever he wants. Not too mention he's made more from the Oscar fight than he ever could have w/o it.

    Why? He beat Oscar.

Same situation here, just on a smaller scale.

Maybe now, you can understand Dawson's decision.

Mate, you must be really dumb! Why can you not understand that no one is saying Dawson shouldn't fight Tarver! People are saying he should fight his mandatory, Diaconu, before he fights Tarver, especially since Tarver doesn't have a better fight out there waiting for him.

Fighting Tarver in a unification fight is better than being stripped of your belt and fighting Tarver empty handed, why cannot you get that through your thick skull?
