True. Wrist injuries in particular have a nasty habit of recurring too.

That lil punk Dawson is ducking Tarver bigtime, he know that win was a fluke - Tarver got f**king robbed!

Just like he ducked Calzaghe :yep

He put himself in that situation through his own choice. The reason that Tarver went into the fight as champion and Dawson as challenger was that Dawson chose to vacate the WBC title rather than fulfill his mandatory defence. If a match against Tarver had been a unification fight between two champions then none of the things you mention would need to have applied, there would have not needed to be a compulsary rematch clause, as Dawson would have been the one negotiating from a position of strength rather than Tarver.

In the time Dawson has fought Tarver and will at some point fight a pointless rematch against Tarver, he could instead have fought Diaconu and Tarver once. If he'd followed that route he'd have got paid more, have two major titles rather than one and a higher international profile and be in a much better situation than he is now.

It would be sad if he had to completely change the way he fights on account of fragile hands.

Some folks might end up calling him Chadslappy or something !

    :good

Think of it this way...if things had played out differently, Chad would have an open slate for the spring/summer fight and he'd already be halfway towards completely unifying the division. That would've done a much better job of getting him on Hopzaghe's radar. Instead, the Tarver fight could be the only time he fights in 2009 depending on the layoff.

The rematch was really useless anyways, Dawson should fight another top 5 LHW soon.
