Its a shame but really..what else was Tarver going to do, if the clause is there its by far the best fight he can get.

HBO is a joke for putting that garbage on, and saying no to a live fire act like kessler-froch.

Does this mean Dawson will have to vacate? No mention of that in the article, but I'm guessing he'll be stripped for not defending against Cloud. No way HBO will approve Dawson-Cloud as the second fight of his deal.

Lame. It seems like the decision to ditch the mandatory vs Diaconu for Tarver I is coming back to bite Chad in the ass because had he defended against Diaconu, he could've unified vs Tarver without needing to agree to a rematch clause and he'd stand a much better chance of landing a Calzaghe or Hopkins fight. Now he's tied up with someone he already beat cleanly. Even after the 2nd Tarver fight, he'll also still be locked up with Cloud unless he sticks to his plan to vacate the IBF strap.

If the IBF strip Paulie for taking the Hatton fight, they're gonna strip Chad.

All HBO is doing is trying to set up a Calzaghe VS Dawson fight.

Every body knows Dawson is a Showtime fighter. When Max interviewed Calzaghe after his win over Jones, he mentioned Dawsons name. I thought it was strange at the time but now i see why. HBO's plan all along has been to get Dawson and turn him into one of there stars.

The reason HBO have accepted this fight is because they want Dawson on their network badly. So bad that they are accepting this fight because Dawson has to take it thanks to the rematch clause which is being enforced by Antonio Tarver. HBO sees it as get Tarver out the way, let Dawson beat Calzaghe, then we have a new star.
