I dont think they will strip him, IF Tarver really has a rematch clause...But **** no one wants to see that fight again....

I agree, he can figure out what he did wrong and capitalize, but his age is showing and Chad is reaching his peak mentally. Once Dawson reaches his peak physically and mentally, I'll b like PBF and say he's P4P #1 - esque

I don't care about Dawson fighting Tarver a second time. I care that it's on HBO taking the place of a potentially much better fight.

I love Tarver and would be as happy as anyone if he won but, LORD, he looked pathetic in the last fight. That was like a textbook definition of 'shot.' He seriously appeared as though he were throwing punches underwater, they were so slow and had nothing on them.

Some of that is because Dawson is good/fast, but not all of it. If the Magic Man can merely be credible in the rematch it might be an even bigger upset than the ending of Tarver-Jones II.

Why? Two fights with Tarver still makes him more money than a fight with Diaconu, then a fight with Tarver.

I agree it's a pointless fight, but these are the terms he agreed to and he has to stick to them.

Better in whos mind??? Last time I heard you didnt run HBO...My guess is the numbers dictate what HBO does, and like it or not Kesslers fights on HBO have been rating flops.

Calzaghe-Kessler was a pretty big flop. IIRC, it was their lowest rated WCB ever.

Dawson had to agree to them because he lost his leverage once he got stripped of his belt, and Diaconu's camp still offered him a career high purse. I know it was Dawson's choice; I just don't think it was the smartest one because it was never an "either/or" between Tarver and Diaconu- he could've just as well defended vs Adrian, eliminating a young unbeaten mandatory contender in the process, and then unified against Tarver afterwards as it's clear Antonio's slate wasn't exactly filled to the brim. All the sudden, he's got 2 titles, making him a more attractive option to the old dogs on top.

Instead, now he stands the risk of getting stripped again for not fighting Cloud, and going from potentially having 2 belts to 0. That's not going to get him any closer to fights with Calzaghe and Hopkins, both of whom have careers on emptier side of the hourglass. What Chad has to do now is look great and hope that HBO throws up enough cash to make either one care enough to take a fight with him, because his team's done a miserable job of marketing him.

So, I know the Tarver fight has to happen, rematch clause, easy money, yadda yadda.....I just still don't like it.
