Dawson-Tarver rematch is a disgrace to the sport

If he wins another belt, that will be an excuse for them to fight again. Not that big of a difference between 40 and 41. Either way, he's still an old man. Frankly, whether the fight is made now or a year from now, Dawson will have only improved because he's reaching his prime, and Johnson will have started to fade because he's pretty darn old. Either way, Dawson should be able to win by a wider margin in a rematch, and if he doesn't then it's a testament that he's not actually all he's hyped up to be.

 

Stop acting like an idiot and actually think before you type. Rather you like it or not, There was a rematch clause to the contract in which Tarver took it and Dawson has no choice but to fight Tarver again. And if you ask the true boxing fans who they rather see in Dawson vs Tarver first fight or Dawson vs an unknown Diaconu in Diaconu home country, who you think the true boxing fans will pick? I bet even this version of Tarver would beat Diaconu. Diaconu is way too 1 dimensional. More 1 dimensional then Tarver. The one thing i agree with you that Dawson vs Johnson rematch should happen and i hope it happens. But Johnson needs to think before making stupid comments about Dawson facing Tarver in the rematch is a disgrace. Johnson should know all about rematch clause cause after he beat Tarver in the first fight, Johnson had no choice but to fight Tarver again cause of the rematch clause.

 

Terrible fight. HBO should not put this crap on TV.

Well I guess the newspapper is wrong but he was suppose to fight a mando anyway,it's been sometime.Cloud vs Woods/Muriqi will surely be the mando.

 

Haven't heard nothing.

 

Don't know about the Cloud fight but the Diaconu fight wasn't for less money.He got less money to fight Tarver.

This fight is definately bad for boxing.

Just goes to show rematch clauses can be bad for boxing, there should be another clause added to the contract where if a boxers loses so many rounds on the judges scorecards then the rematch clause is void.

Dawson - Tarver 2 is a joke, and Dawsons fans who are sayings its okay are equally pitiful.

stupid fight....Glen Johnson is the man to beat for Dawson to have his resume cleaned up...his win over Johnson was razor thin close as he was staggered with every other right cross from Johnson....this is the rematch that needs to happen right now...all these so-called fighters are being pussies while Johnson remains to be beaten decisively

 

Damn some people here bashing Dawson for going to fight Tarver in the rematch should think before they bash Dawson. Damn don't they realize that THERE WAS A REMATCH CLAUSE TO THE CONTRACT IN WHICH TARVER TOOK IT? Johnson should know all about rematch clause cause he had to fight Tarver in the rematch after he beat Tarver in the first fight.

 

I'm a big time Dawson fan and i don't like about this rematch but what more can Dawson do? He has no choice but to fight Tarver again rather we hate it or not. I hope Dawson ko Tarver early so he can get big fights like Hopkins maybe in june or july.

Johnson is 100% right. This rematch is a complete joke, and Dawson is a disgrace. Dawson will never fight Glen Johnson again, even if Glen became his new mandatory, Chad will find a way out of it, or just vacate. The only way he fights Johnson again is if he waits and waits until Johnson is clearly too old and washed up to have a shot at winning.
