Dawson beat Hopkins and Cloud lost to Hopkins though. Wouldn't a rematch with Stevenson be more appropriate? Dawson has been the linear light heavyweight champion essentially since 2007. (minus a few fights like when he lost to Pascal, but then won it back vs Hopkins) I really like Dawson's attitude, and I admit it was tough seeing him go down last night. I think going down to 168 really was tough on his body, I think when he beat Hopkins he felt like he was on top of the world and could do anything, and foolishly said he would come down to 168. that was a fight where a catch weight actually made sense, at like 171 or 172 or something. I think it's easier for fighters to gain weight then it is to lose weight. it's pretty amazing that Dawson is coming off 2 straight stoppage losses. it was pretty hard to envision that a few years ago when he was on top of the division. I don't know where he goes from here, but he's gotta want that belt back and avenge this defeat. This was much more of a "gutted" feeling then the loss to Ward, which many expected. This was really a shocker. We've never seen Dawson laid out like that.
Good fight for both fighters returning. I would pick Dawson to beat Cloud. This would good on an undercard.
Would rather see a straight up rematch with Stevenson to be honest, but this would be a good fight too. Stevenson 2, or Cloud.... would be pumped for either one.
