Dawson vs. Hopkins — change your mind?

Nope, I had thought from some time now that Dawson was just to young and talented for Hopkins at this stage in his career and his fight against Roy just cemented that for me. Hopkins can still turn back the hands of time but not by 15 years anymore and he would need a vintage Hopkins performance to deal with Dawson.

 

I've thought Dawson could beat Hopkins since I started considering the matchup.

 

Hopkins stock plummeted after last night. Dawson makes Hopkins look totally shot and wins by wide UD.

Dawson has been ahead of Hopkins for a year or two now. I didn't see the Hopkins-Jones fight but if Hopkins looked his age more than ever like I've been reading then Dawson just beats him that much easier. I don't think the fight will ever happen. Hopkins can make big paydays against other fighters he doesn't need a guy at Dawson's level considering Dawson doesn't have much drawing power.

My opinion has not changed. Dawson would beat Hopkins pretty clearly.

 

Dawson/Hopkins, then Dawson/Tarver

 

I've changed my mind. Hops showed serious stamina issues against Calzaghe, but when he turned in that performance against Pavlik I wrote them off as an off-night thing. Now I think it's a problem that's not going to go away. He's gonna have to have Shilstone for his conditioning every fight lol

 

Dawson is all wrong for Hopkins and that is the reason that Hopkins said he wouldnt fight him. I think that Dawson would stop Hopkins via making him quit on the stool. Too young too fast too skilled. Its one think to out think and out skill Pavlik and an old shot shell of what Jones use to be. Its another to beat a young more skilled faster fighter like Dawson.

There is nothing in Hopkins arsenal that could beat Dawson right now. Hopkins is too old and doesn't have the speed or work-rate to really trouble Dawson. I think Dawson would TKO Hopkins, it would be brutal and uncompetitive.
