I really didn't like Dawson with Tarver that much tbh.

I didn't either. But i think that fight proved two things. That Dawson has no power. And that Dawson's focus is getting better. A fight with Hopkins, IMO, ends up the same way with it being a little more competitive in the early rounds. Only way Nard wins is if he catches him early, like he did against Calzaghe, hurts him badly (which is more likely) and finishes him.

Dawson by UD. He's got lots of skills and would use the stamina edge to his advantage.

I think it's a rather easier win for Bernard than it seems but it's just me maybe.....people were saying Pavlik stops him:nut......I say Bernard can beat him at everything.

I think that Dawson has the potential to end Hopkin's career ... he has way more dimensions that Pavlik and Tarver ... better defense and movement than Taylor ... and his physicality is far beyond Hopkins' at this point in his career.

If Dawson stood tall to those bombs that Johnson was throwing that Hopkins right hand wouldn't be a problem.

I also think that his length and atheticism would be a problem from Hopkins ... he could never beat athletic fighters ... Jones, Taylor, and Calzaghe.

I was one of the few on here that said Nard would school Pavlik. The speed and the combination punching is the big difference here. It won't allow Nard to get set and will take him out of his comfort zone, like Calzaghe did, his punch output will go down because instead of working angles and countering, he'll cover up and look to counter with one good shot in response to 5 or 6 Dawson punches. Whether he lands a good one or not is where the fight will be won or lost.

Not to brag but I also picked Hopkins to beat Pavlik.Anyway I think Bernard's sped is on par with Dawson's.Dawson stands and trades at times when he shouldn't.Then he has complete rounds when he turns off and d oesn't do anything.Dawson won't throw 5-6 punch comcos as he won't get off.Anyway I doubt it will happen

I really don't know where this "lacks mental focus" comes from. Is it based on Dawson's willingness to exchange a bit too much for his own good? Well, that's correctable. And he was actually laughing at Tarver's power shots by just covering up. He dominated Tarver.

Shaky chin? I think some of you are underestimating his chin. Yeah, it's not great but it's not glass either.

Inactivity? Hmm, don't really see that either. He fights in spurts. Big deal.

Yeah, he doesn't fight like Taylor, he's just that much better than Taylor.

Correctable? He did it with Harding,Johnson,Adamek and Tarver. It's hardly correctable and he had 3 trainers during this time....this will be the flaw that will get him KO'd later rather than sooner.Laughed at Tarver's shots?Tarver didn't have more than 50% on those shots from what he used to have and he almost had him in round 3.
His chin is shaky. One punch from Glen and he was wobbled....Glen doesn't have one punch power.
Fighting in spurts with Bernard would lose him possibly the fight.

Dawson is faster than Hopkins. Hopkins just looked fast cause his last fight was against Pavlik. And you're right, Dawson does not fight complete rds and takes breaks. He's progressing a bit every fight yet has a lot of room from improvement in that department. But still, Dawson is a workhorse in comparison to BHOp.

You will have to show me where Dawson was hurt by Tarver. I don't recall.

And i disagree that Tarver only had 50% of the power he used to have against Dawson. Based on what? What happened in this fight was that Dawson's reflexes, foot speed, and hand speed was so superior to Tarver's that Tarver couldn't pin him down and sit down on his punches and land anything significant. Difference in class. The only rounds Tarver won, which was like 1 or 2, was when Dawson decided to take a break and cover up.

    Agree to disagree.
