I am surprised you :good that post...

Remember when you were getting ready to fight Enzo and then he ducked you for some guy from North Africa? Well, Ding, guess what, it's a business, it was an opportunity that Enzo couldn't pass on; after all, you would have KTFO him and then he wouldn't have been the money earner he is now, after impressing the whole world with that stunning KO!

    :good

Diaconu. He was injured. If he didn't duck Dawson then, he would have let everyone down, himself especially. Had a good excuse too!

Is Dawson's excuse half as good? :hey

Well sure...I am a big fan of Dawson - was getting told off for hyping him so much last week - - and now, look at me...

Mate, I am disappointed with Dawson, I really am, because I cannot see how he is justifying not fighting Diaconu who is - and I am sure you would agree, a worthy, bona fide mandatory...Why not fight Johnson in January before Diaconu in April? Why not give that dog his bone? Dawson is only 25...and has the whole world at his feel; what's the hurry? Why is he so impatient? You tell me!:thumbsup

Look who Enzo fought versus who Chad is going to fight, and you'll see the very big difference.

Justification in boxing works along the lines of money. The logic is that you take the best, most lucrative fights you can get, provided you're ready for them. Passing up Johnson or Tarver for Diaconu would be a backward step for Dawson. It really doesn't matter at all how worthy you believe Diaconu. Is it that hard to understand?

And Showtime is far more important to Dawson than the WBC, as it should be, and I'm sure you can understand that. Showtime's calendar is tied up through the first quarter, so the earliest they can feature Dawson is April. Considering that Chad has faced two anonymous opponents in his defenses, doesn't it make sense for both Chad and Showtime to put him in against a recognizable face?

This might be the better scenario for everyone.

Dawson will get his name opponent in Johnson.

Diaconu will get a world title shot for a vacant WBC belt against Branco.

Well, clearly if you think Johnson and Tarver  are harder opponents for Dawson than Diaconu, that they would give him a harder fight and would be more likely to win, then, sure, you have a point...after all, boxing is a mess so there are no rules that are worth sticking to.

I just don't think Tarver, for example, is better than Diaconu, right now...and after all, it was HIM that Dawson was trying to replace Diaconu with...Johnson is a very recent Jonny-come-lately.

You take your boys and put them up against reheated have-been NAMES and serve them up as fresh and call it boxing on your shows and hype them as new NAMES on the back of that...but don't pretend you don't understand why we call your boxing scene a circle-jerk or why we call your top fighters overrated! :hi:

Well, for me as a Dawson fan, it ain't. I was hoping he would take a different route with his career...now it looks he is being prepped to become just another NAME, like Taylor, for example...

Do you have any sources that say Chad needs give up his belt if he doesn't fight Diaconu before April 25? Because the article says "Dawson will be defending his belt against Johnson in April". The reason why Johnson and Dawson are fighting is because Johnson is the mandatory for Clinton Woods, if Johnson fights Dawson he no longer has be the mandatory for Woods. I doubt Johnson wants to fight Woods for a fourth time. Anyways Debecal didn't you say there was a purse bid come January 7?

It's not a backward step because Diaconu is viewed as a threat, and he is the mandatory, so he really has no choice to fight him sooner or later. I think a Dawson-Diaconu matchup should showcase why Dawson could possibly be the best in the division. If he were to duck Diaconu, it would give him a bad reputation. Besides it's not like he's following the same path as Zsolt Erdei.

Dawson vs Johnson is a good fight, probably the toughest available fight for Dawson out there so props for taking it. Dawson will surely not drop his WBC belt though so expect one of 2 things: either the fight will be changed, or the WBC will allow Dawson to defend his belts against Johnson.

The WBC ordered Dawson to fight his mandatory (Diaconu) by the 25th of April. I take that to mean that if he doesn't, they strip him.

There was supposed to be a purse bid - but that assumed that Dawson was indeed going to fight his mandatory...

I don't think Dawson would become like Erdei, of course not...but then Erdei never had Dawson's talent either...I think Dawson is truly special and I want him to rise towards the top of the p4p rankings the right way, not on the back of beating have-been (overrated NAMES) in circle-jerks...you know what I mean? I think Chad is the real deal and I want him to PROVE it against the very best live contenders out there, not against tired yesterday's men...Diaconu is good enough for now...he is not a Manfredo type opponent. I am not saying Dawson shouldn't make a name for himself by beating NAMES; what I am saying is he should not do so exclusively when he has a chance of beating an unbeaten prime live opponent, limited but dangerous - like Diaconu.

Dawson could pay Diaconu step-aside money if he can convinve the WBC to let him fight Johnson instead, by the 25th of April deadline...but I cannot see the WBC agreeing to that, nor do I see Diaconu taking another break - he has his own career to worry about; he cannot afford to wait forever either...

I hope the fight does change and he faces his mandatory. But the fight is official, and I don't remember that many official fights being changed. And if this fight is official then that means the WBC approved of this fight.
