Trainer: New Haven's Dawson To Fight Antonio Tarver

Chad Dawson's public campaign to get Antonio Tarver in the ring appears to have worked.

Tarver has agreed to fight Dawson, according to Mike Criscio, Dawson's trainer.

Criscio said today that the two camps are talking with the Showtime network about an April 2008 fight, probably in Las Vegas.

"Tarver says it's going to happen, so we'll see if he steps up," Criscio said "He realizes he's been called out."

Dawson, of New Haven, is the WBC light heavyweight champ. Tarver, the former WBC, WBA and IBF light heavyweight champion, has the name recognition.

A showdown between the two light heavyweights has been talked about since they fought on the same June 9 card at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford.

Tarver has to get by Green and Dawson has to just keep winning...though he may have to face Adrian Diaconu next, it's up to the WBC.

I hope this gives Diaconu time to get his title shot against Dawson.

tarver better not over look green. not saying green will win easily. but is there a good chance green can win. hell yes!

just because most people (aside from aussies) don't have a clue about green, doesn't mean he is just a stay busy fight for a guy nearly 40!

i suspect like foreign fight fans, tarver himself doesn't know much about green to pick him as a stay busy fight. either that or his win against jones has made him feel like a god. the last guy who beat him easily was 41 or 42. lol and jumped two weight divisons to beat AND knock him down. b-hop who was never a feared puncher in middleweight to begin with!

oh well, i will be barracking for green in this one. even though i wont be the slightest bit shocked if green loses, i definately wont be shocked if he wins :thumbsup

Diaconu had "time", but wanted MORE time to prepare for his toughest opponent.

I saw Green fought many times. This guy is a warrior with a huge punch. Tarver gonna have lot of problems with him. He better not overlook at him. To me, Green beating Tarver won't be a huge upset.

The WBC dident give chance Tarver before two months . The answer was that Tarver dident show nothing in the fight with Muriqi to get world title shot with Dawson. I dont think soo that Tarver will fight right know with Dawson, who knows but i dont think soo.

There will be no Tarver v Dawson because once the green machine is finished with him there will be no more Tarver:good
He is making the worst mistake of his life looking past Danny:patsch
    GO GREENY!
