Dawson should beat the Road Warrior convincingly. Johnson had to land about 100 punches to knock out Hugo Pineda, but he's not going to land that much on Dawson and most likely will on the exchanges of his punches. Dawson is the future of this division, Johnson is old and his skills have deteriorated. Dawson should outclass Johnson badly. It's time to move on to the future and Dawson is obviously the future.

"Fragile Chin" Dawson is already spleeping on the canvas dreaming of "The Shark" Diaconu to give him a second chance...

This is a great fight that should happen. Glen Johnson is an experienced, battle tested fighter. He has stayed in the gym and has aged like a fine wine. He's gotten better. Dawson is an excellent talent with loads of natural ability and quick hands. Dawson is the better talent but in Johnson he will go through a gut check in this fight. And Johnson is the sturdier, tougher guy. It will be interesting. I'll go with Johnson by KO while well behind on points.:smoke :smoke

How can you not root for Glencoffe???? The dude has a pure warrior spirit, will fight anyone anywhere anytime.

Especially after Dawson finished the Adamek fight on his bicycle, Ill surely be rooting for Johnson.

How can Johnson knock out Dawson if he had to land about 100 punches just to knock out Hugo Pineda? He certaintly won't land 100 punches on Dawson. His last notable fight was a loss to Clinton Woods, (who isn't the most skilled fighter) and I don't care how close the fight was, you can't eek out a a decision against Woods than I don't think he will beat Dawson, who would spank Woods. He couldn't even beat Julio Gonzalez, who Dawson would also beat. It's not just about experience, Adamek was more experienced than Dawson and he turned him into a one dimensional slugger. Yes Johnson is a good B+ fighter, but he won't beat A level fighters like Calzaghe or Dawson. As you can see I think very highly of Dawson, and I think he has the potential to be a hall of fame fighter, and the first step is to beat guy's like Glen Johnson.

Look, I like Dawson a lot. He is gifted and has a great future ahead of him. But if he has a few a weaknesses they are punching power and perhaps the ability to take a shot. he can be dropped and hurt. And the Road Warrior can provide the type of pressure to this relatively inexperienced phenom and pull it off. I'm not saying it's a lock but Johnson is a seasoned pro that just might find a way.:smoke:smoke

I don't see how Johnson is going to defeat Dawson. He'll pressure, but Chad has quick feet and can fight for 12 rounds. He held against Adamek because he was hurt and had the fight in the bag, which was the intelligent thing to do. He also fought back and even knocked Adamek back into the ropes at point after the KD. He's a game kid.

I also disagree about his punching power. He obviously isn't a big hitter, but his power at 175 is greater than it was at 168. He's also more confident now and is developing into a boxer-puncher. The whole reason he get caught by Adamek was because he was looking for the KO, and he did stop his next two opponents relatively early.

Dawson has no power, but Diaconu does. Somehow, Dawson has a higher KO% though. Food for thought.

If Diaconu had as much power as they say, would he not have stopped Rivera, who had been stopped in his two previous fights? :think

Yeah, he has power, but it's not so much the power; it's the timing and technique - and these have been getting better lately, it seems.

often a better skilled boxer can have more KO's than a harder puncher because he's able to land flush more often.

I think that Dawson is quite powerful. Not absurdly so, but a guy that with his speed and accuracy can certainly hurt you. I think that Diaconu's power is slightly over rated also, which I take it is what you are implying.

I cannot promise a Diaconu KO, but I can promise this fight will not be boring. For some reason, Diaconu takes this fight very personally and thinks of nothing else. It will be fun to watch!:deal

If Dawson has no power than why was Adamek so hestitant to get his punches off? Because Adamek was afraid of being countered, and Adamek has an iron chin, if Dawson can make Adamek respect his punches, than that's saying something.
