It's crazy cause on paper Dawson really should win this fight as he beats Ward in nearly every athletic/physical category- bigger, quicker hands, more powerful, better chin... but that's boxing for you where a smarter guy with greater mental strength can beat someone with all the athletic and physical advantages in the world (look no further than B-Hop or Molina).

    out of 10:

    Power: Dawson- 7///Ward- 3
    Physical Strength: Dawson- 6///Ward- 8
    Chin: Dawson- 8/// Ward- 6
    Speed: Dawson- 9///Ward- 8
    Experience: Dawson- 8/// Ward- 7
    Toughness: Dawson- 4/// Ward- 9
    Ring IQ: Dawson-5/// Ward- 10
    Workrate/ Stamina: Dawson 6///Ward 9
    Defense: Dawson 7///Ward 8.5
Ring Generalship: Dawson 6/// Ward 9

I'm rooting for Chad, he's one of my faves and love his style of fighting.... he's a live underdog here but I got Ward by 7-5/8-4 type decision. He loses a few early rounds trying to get inside but once he gets there he frustrates Dawson by taking away his jab and straight left. Ward is too smart and mentally tough for Dawson who's prone to mental lapses.

Easily the most anticipated fight of the year for me and the fight with the biggest implications for the winner imo even more so than Sergio vs JCC as both Dawson and Ward are proven elite p4p figthers. If Ward wins he's p4p #$2, if Dawson wins I'd put him at #3.

I think it's a ***** move that Ward has forced (IMO the only credible threat he has from 168-200lbs) Dawson all the way down to 168lb, even a catchweight of 170lb would have been ok but I really do hope Dawson wins.

Let me break it down real quick

Ward is a inside beast. Dawson cannot fight on the inside.

    Game Over.

    Good Technical Fight Though.

Ward is just too good at controlling distance, and can ramp up his work rate, Outpacing Dawson

He didn't force him to do anything. Hell, I applaud Dawson for taking all challenges.

I applaude Dawson for his willingness to come down to 168lb against a Champion who was unwilling to fight at a catchweight.

that's my thoughts too, if Dawson can double and triple the jab and fire the straight left as well as throwing his beatiful combinations whenever Ward tries to get inside he can win and KO Ward after wearing him down but most likely when Dawson has atypical mental lapse Ward uses his excellent footwork and works his way in there and buries the head into Dawsons chest (and head lol) and goes to work....I think it'll take a few rounds to achieve this though so it's gonna be a close fight going down the stretch. This will be closer than most think, they're both easily the best guy either has faced.

I cannot wait for this fight. Cheering for Dawson but predicting Ward

Dawson deserves all the credit in the world for making this fight. He's giving Ward every conceivable advantage so if he wins there is absolutely no excuses! Dawson a G for this one. More disapointing than the weight for me is that it's in Oakland cause Dawson offered to fight at 168 so the weight was his doing he shoulda asked Ward to come take his LHW belt and then they coulda worked out a catchweight. Oakland as the location pisses me off though. AC/ Vegas/Montreal all preferable. Even Foxwoods since Ward has the weightclass advantage.

Didn't Dawson bring the fight up before anybody and offer 168

    "Ring IQ: Dawson-5/// Ward- 10"

Does that not tell you every thing you need to know? Except for size and maybe power, every thing else is close enough where Ward's iq will easily be the deciding factor. I also think Ward will show to be "quicker" of hand and foot of the two. Dawson's height and length is his only clear advantage.

Big fan of both, and really don't see why this fight is happening (at this time).

Dawson can fight on the inside, but he shouldn't be going toe to toe with Ward often. If Dawson is going to win, he has to fight like a true lefty, which is use lateral movement and throw the right jab and left cross frequently, which he didn't do enough against Hopkins.

And we will see if the drop in weight effects his movement.

I don't know who's going to win, it's 50/50 imo. If Dawson is 100% physically and mentally he should win. My biggest concern is the drop in weight.

I should think the experience of fighting Bernard would have done Dawson no harm when coming up against Ward.
