Dawson by stoppage. A great opportunity to show just why he is one of the best p4p fighters in the sport today. Really puts things into perspective when you think back to what Roy did to a younger Woods. Absolutely demolished him.

Woods is a no bull**** fighter, Ive always been a fan of his but he doesnt have that extra bit of ability that Dawson has.

I think its testement to how good prime Roy was to destroy Woods like that but I think also it was the fact that Clinton really brang it that night. He came to win fully knowing that in doing so he was putting it on the line and leaving himself open to get taken out himself.
There have been a long list of fighters who got plain scared of Roy and just tried to survive. Roy likes to play and coast, so the fights dragged on, very one sided but went longer than they should of.
When Clinton took on Roy he gave everyting and made Roy work and got the best out of Roy, which unfortunately for Woods was just plain brutal.

 

I like Dawson in this fight.

Good fight. Dawson is the future and will win this clearly. Woods will keep him honest and might test his chin, but in reality I think he's too slow.

It'll be really tight, no way Dawson walks through him ( but then it seems on ESB that there are several posters who one should just ignore straight off). Woods is a massivel improved fighter in the last few years but I like Dawsons youth to carry him through to a close but deserved UD. He may have to get off his arse to do it though.

 

A brilliant test for Dawson , He should win but only the IDIOTS (By god there are a few on here..!!!) see it as a walkover.Woods will push him to perform at his best.

 

I think this is a great test for Chad. I hope it happens. I'd predict Dawson's speed to prevail, but in his most difficult bout yet. Dawson competitive UD.

 

You'd have to favour Woods. He's the longest reignining champ and has bags of championship level experience. He's 100% better than when he fought Jones. A few fights after the Jones fight, it was discovered that Woods had a chronic iron deficiency.This is now resolved and he's fighting better than ever.

All the Yanks seem to rate Dawson but one has to ask whether it's because Dawson really IS very good, or if that they're so desperate for a half decent fighter in the heavier weights they'll talk up anyone with any semblence of ability eg Lacy,Taylor

 

I agree with almost evertything you say Dave but my concern for Woods is , since he became champ he has fought the older guys of the divsion , johnson , Gonzalez , DeLisle ( not his fault its an ageing division ) and althought he smashed Hoye to bits , Hoye was overrated I just think at this stage Dawson mught have more left in the locker.

This is not to say I won't be shouting for Woods , he is a new man since the iron problem was discovered but i fear his time has come

 

Hopefully the winner of this (probs Dawson) will fight the winner of Calzaghe (probs him) vs Hopkins.
