Dawson was always the real threat to Joe C.

Dawson was awarded 8 rounds by the judges. Anyway, again, what 7 rounds did Johnson clearly win? If Johnson clearly won and was clearly robbed, then you should be able to tell me the 7 rounds that he clearly won.

Dawson ain't no threat to Calzaghe. Inexperience, questionable stamina and chin aren't the way to beat Calzaghe.

If the crowds got to Kessler, an experienced, strong-minded individual, affecting his performance in a negative way, they would definitely get to Dawson, a young, inexperienced, weak-minded person, imo.

I like Chad, but he has to prove something more than beating a very old Tarver before I feel comfortable watching him against Calzaghe. The Road Warrior has no where the speed of Calzaghe, and yet I was afraid Chad was going down a couple of rounds there against Glen Johnson. I think Chad will get to fight Calzaghe next year, but I am scared Chad will end up like Lacy or Pavlik.

Boxing is a funny sport. Following the Johnson fight people had real questions about Chad. He dominates Tarver, who has nothing left, and all of a suddenly everyone believes this guy is for sure the real deal. Crazy.

Right now, this are the boxers that matter in the LHW division:

    1. Calzaghe
    2. Dawson
    3. Hopkins
    4. Diaconu

Bull****...Pavlik is a middleweight and Hopkins is 43. He was then and he is now. There are just more people on the bandwagon after the Tarver fight but I wanted Joe in with Dawson before Joe fought Hopkins...just like many other people.

In this case people have been wanting that fight...but figure Joe wanted to cash in on a big name just to have it on his resume but after he did that we see thats all he wanted.

What this has taught me again is the reason promoters chase "names" for their charges to beat up. It doesn't matter whether the "name" is better than B level these days or that there would have been harder fights out there against better, lesser known fighters. What matters is to get that "name" on your resume...then people will start not just taking notice of you, but also overrating you...and not just casual fans...but even some hard-core fans who are knowledgeable and respected - just look at some here, on ESB, nevermind what Kellerman and the American boxing hacks think.

    :-( :verysad :-( :verysad :-(

...and then people complain that meaningful fights don't get made...well...why should they get made, if a less meaningful fight against a shot name makes more business sense and would get you rated even more highly by hard-core fans too!?:huh

If this is what the punters are really like, give them what they really want and appreciate, not what they say they want or pretend they want...:deal

Johnson did not clearly win all of those rounds. Round 11 was all Dawson and then he got stunned at the end, that round could've gone either way. The same for round 12. I have to watch the fight again before I comment about the other rounds.

    :good

I have been calling for Dawson v Calzaghe since before Joe stepped up in weight, and since then, many have joined me.

See my thread "Thanks to BHop, only Dawson left for Calzaghe".

What about before the Johnson fight?

Dawson was seen as a slick boxer with P4P talent, and had an unbeaten record plus a WBC title. And some very good wins.

    It is a funny sport.

I like Joe to but he has to prove soemthing more than beating an even older Hopkins and Jones before I feel confident he can beat Dawson. Roy or Hopkins have nowhere near the pop or speed that Dawson has and both put Joe on his ass during the fight. Joe did go down when in with these fighters. You can clearly see Dawson is not Pavlik or Lacy...he is not one dimensional...He throws every punch in his attack and mixes up text book combo's as his method of attack.

Couple that with the fact that Joe will have a significant reach advantage and Dawson is faster. Lets face it...Joe does not have the chin of Johnson...He can't eat the punches Johnson can so lets stop comparing those two fighters...unless your going to utilize all the facts...

How can Dawson be comared to Pavlik or Lacy? Because they are all young Americans? That logic is flimsy at best.

Joe is a great fighter...that goes without saying...It takes a special fighter to beat him. Point blank... With that said Dawson has been his toughest challenge all along. I have said that since Dawson beat Adamek. It sucks when you have been saying something for over a year then other people finally catch on and start agreeing then the Joe fans say "Oh...now it's Dawson...he is the next hope. There will always be one last guy to fight..." It's crazy...

Joe can hang them up with his head held high .

    He's an atg .

He's earned his right to call it a day but if he does take another two fights Dawson will have to contend with the Hopkins and Kessler $$$ Not sure if Bad Chad brings him what he needs at the end of his career.
