Some of both. Maybe Dawson finishes the fight at 175, but still loses a clear UD, imo. Regardless, Ward was great tonight. Anybody can't see that is either trolling or mortally buttwounded.
It leads me to believe Chad's head hadn't cleared the cobwebs out after getting knocked cold by Miranda in sparring. Either excuse (because that's what both are...excuses) Ward defeats Dawson at any weight convincingly.
I would call these contributing factors. I reserve "excuse" for explanations of less merit. Like Miranda blaming his KO in the second Abraham fight on having a nutritionist that specialized in weight lifting instead of boxing. I thought it was a sweet, short straight right myself...
that somehow diminish Dawson's win over Adamek who was barely able to fit 175lb and cut his weight excessively
I wouldn't compare this to Roy Jones Jr. Roy was up at heavyweight and went all the way down to Light Heavyweight. A better comparison would be Miguel Cotto against Manny Pacquiao. The fight was even a exact mirror image of that fight. Dawson like Cotto did pretty good in the first round. Than like Manny, Ward started to step up the agression. Than Dawson like Cotto suddenly began to wilt and of course was finished in the later rounds.
I believe that wholeheartedly, but I'm just touching on Chad's performance. I don't think anyone expected that bad of a performance out of him. He stood up to Pascal's best, but can't take a shot from Ward?
