Johnson gave him trouble with his swarming pressure... Diaconu is NOT that sort of fighter, and is more a boxer puncher then anything IMO, who puts an emphasis on pressure due to his smaller stature.

He is pretty slow, flat footed, and has some defensive weaknesses. He throws some nice crisp punches, and is more well rounded then some here give him credit for though... Still the only way i really see him beating Chad, is by tagging him with a good shot when Chad gets lazy, and knocking him out (still a possibility with the chin of Dawson).

Diaconu just overall looks small as a light heavy. He is not only short, but doesn't really possess a thick frame either.

I think Chad showed against Glen that he probably is susceptible to guys who really over whelm him with work rate. He is still a very good fighter, with a tonne of potential, and at times during the fight he looked great. Adamek's recent convincing victory over what was considered to be one of the top cruisers, shows just how impressive Chads dominance in that fight really was as well, which IMO is under rated on these boards. Some people on the boards have gone stupid and made claim that he was exposed, i think that is a pretty massive stretch.

I am hoping that he learns from this fight, much like FLoyd IMO learnt from the first Castillo fight. I think as a young fighter, he will take far more out of the Johnson fight, then the last five of his recent fights combined.

For once im going to agree with you on Dawson, he WILL beat Diaconu convincingly.

He still loses to top fighters tho IMO.

I think the biggest weakness that Chad showed in his recent outing, was his lack of confidence in his defence. In the latter stages of the fight, he failed to really plant his feet when punching, because he wasn't prepared to use his defense and movement to help pin point opening offensively. Instead, he choose to move and backpedal whilst Johnson just walked him down.

Its a shame that he left Mayweather SR, because he was probably one of the best technical coaches you could get for teaching effective defense.:-(

Not just lack of confidence MSTR but lack of boxing intelligence. When Johnson started getting back into it Dawson literally just stayed the same rather than adapting and just lost rounds as they went by. Could you imagine Hopkins or Calzaghe doing that ?

Yeah it is a shame he left MayweatherSR. He could have done him a lotta good.

I see Dawson running into trouble with Diaconu, but I feel like with Adamek, he'll come out on top.

BTW the Adamek-Bell fight was far more entertaining than Hopkins-Calzaghe. I really look forward to a Cunningham-Adamek fight in the future. Bring it to the Garden!!!

The only problems Dawson had with Johnson were tactical. A change in tactics and the problems would have disappeared. Now if he would just make the fight with that journeryman Diaconu, and get it over with, it would save a lot of hassle.

    Agreed.

Dawson would outclass Diaconu up until the point where he stops him on accumulation. Diaconu is made for Dawson.

Dawson I was hgh on this guys but since the Johnson fight some doubt has crept in. How durable is this guy really. Diaconu doesnt throw enough punches but what if he lands some good ones? can he land them? will he throw enough of them? Dawson should win but Diaconu has a punchers chance.

I used to think Diaconu beats him, but after seeing their respective fights in recent weeks I've changed my mind. Dawson wins, probably stops him if his stamina is as horrible as last time

    I was disappointed in Dawson.

And expected more from him for the Johnson fight.

He may have been better off with Mayweather Sr. as his trainer.

I think Mayweather pushed him more and was toughter with him.
And got better results from Dawson!

No, the fight wont happen. Dawsons a weakling who wil wait for somebodyelse to beat Diaconu. Then that somebody wont have done enough in boxing to challenge him. A classic, in fairly good, but to weak hyped stars of boxing. Hes a ***** with a name.
